JROTC Earns High Marks
On Thursday, January 26, the BMHS JROTC went through a Program Accreditation given by 5th Brigade, Cadet Command (Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio TX). The accreditation consists of seven events and is used to evaluate the overall performance of a JROTC program. The goal of every JROTC program is to achieve a minimum score of 95 out of 100 so that they will earn the Honor Unit of Distinction. The accreditation is comprised of Continuous Improvement Briefing, Service Learning Briefing, Cadet Portfolio Interviews / Inspections, In-Ranks inspection (uniform inspection and Cadets answering JROTC questions, Cadet Drill (marching), Color Guard Performance, and Cadre (teacher) portfolio interviews / inspection). We achieved an overall score of 95.25 which qualifies us for the Honor Unit with Distinctions. This is very special to us since this was the very first time BMHS JROTC was evaluated by 5th Brigade. We are very proud of all our Cadets and very thankful to BMHS and parents for all the support given as we prepared. A special shout out to Mr. Bert Rios for doing dozens alterations on our uniforms prior to the event.
Reading and English Interims are this Week
On Tuesday, January 31st, our middle and high school students will be taking the Reading and English Interims (Reading Gr 6-8 & Eng 1 & 2). The test is online. Students must come prepared to test with their charged Chrome/MacBook and charger. Students will be able to find their testing locations on the walls in both campuses on Monday.
