MRHS Credit For Life Fair Connects Seniors with Community in Authentic Learning Experience
Good afternoon. Just a quick email to say "THANK YOU" to everyone for their cooperation during the Credit for Life Fair. The students, as well as the 50+ volunteers, both got a lot out of it.
I am very proud of our seniors. They were "Dressed for Success" and worked very hard at staying on budget during this challenging simulation. I encourage all of you to ask the seniors what their reactions are to the fair. There's a lot of teachable moments just waiting to be discussed on this.
Special thanks to Betsy Casey for all of her help on the preparations. Also, a hearty thank you to Cliff & his team for a quick set up which took place right after the PSAT. Also, big thanks to Steve Cass whose video students created a professional quality video of the fair (debuting on a Friday Focus soon). Steve was also invaluable as a roving tech troubleshooter as well. "Gracias" to my D Block Practical Money Skills who proved once again that many hands make light work. "Merci" to Ben Hayden, Dan Pandiscio, and Emma Bowden for staying after school on Wednesday for a couple of hours to help set up! I'd be remiss at not mentioning our partners at Cape Cod 5, Joe Beasley & Michelle Mahoney, who are wonderful as well as generous
Thank You Everybody!
Dave Alexander
PS: Thank You to MRHS Phys. Ed. Department for use of the gym!!!
A Huge Shark Shout Out to Mr. Alexander for organizing this amazing event that highlights our school's Core Values of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and passion!

LET'S TALK! MRHS's 1st Shark "THINK" Tank Forum: Rethinking School
Our students, families, staff, administration and community have worked together over the last three years to set a clear Vision, Mission, Core Values/Beliefs and 21st Century Learning Expectations to guide our goal of moving our school from good to GREAT. We have celebrated many successes together and pride ourselves as being an innovative and forward thinking district.
We'd like to continue the collaborative conversation with ALL of you on November 2, 2017 at 6pm (library) in a forum open to ALL students, families, staff and community members. This will be the first in a series of forums to share what we value in our children's education, hear first hand from our students, and answer the following question:
What do you believe about how children learn most powerfully and deeply in their lives? Not just you personally, but what do you believe as a school community?
Hope to see you in November!
MRHS Pays For ALL grade 10 & 11 Students to take PSAT during School Time!
A Grateful Principal!
Our Peer leaders joined forces with our MRHS news team (& teachers Ms. Coughlin and Mr. Cass) to mention 1 compliment a day for the month about Mr. Burkhead on our morning news program in celebration of National Principal's month. When Mr. Burkhead found out he responded - "wow, I am blown away! Thank you peer leaders & TV/Production team for this kind gesture- 31 positive compliments is amazing, my wife & kids could only think of 5 :)"
Shark "Shout Outs" MRHS's way of Appreciating the Great People That Make Our School "A Home Away From Home" Please share any good news with us!
Linda Panuczak
Shark shoutout to Mr. Neely, who works 1:1 with one of my students; this student could never participate in class or access the curriculum without his help and careful attention.
I'd also like to thank Ms. Candace Wolcott for her excellent work in my classroom. She has been extremely helpful in monitoring students and giving feedback on all manner of behavioral and academic issues. She was instrumental in helping to create groups for students to work in collaboration with one another. The groups worked smoothly because of her efforts and careful attention.
I'm very grateful to have such excellent people to work with; they put our students first and make MRHS a "home away from home" indeed.

Cybraryman Visits MRHS
Jerry Blumengarten is a longtime connected educator, speaker and author and creator of "Cybraryman's Educational Websites." His educational pages are a wonderful asset for educators, parents, students, administrators and community members- he has a page for everything!
Jerry and his wife visited Cape Cod last week and decided to visit our wonderful school. Principal Burkhead and the Blumengarten's talked education, visited classrooms and met our teachers and students. Jerry was extremely impressed with our school, especially what the people inside our school (students & staff) were doing. I highly recommend following Jerry on twitter at @cybraryman1 and check out his website (linked above)- you will not be disappointed. Jerry is happy to talk education, kids and Cape Cod with us. I love how Jerry wears the MRHS t-shirt with such pride! Thank you Jerry for taking the time to visit our school- come back anytime!
