Principal's Message
September 6, 2021
Greetings Tiger Families,
Please remember that all the presentations and videos were shared with our families through ParentSquare, Google Classroom, or Seesaw. So if you did not receive the presentations, please contact your child's teacher directly.
Excessive tardies
I want to remind everyone that school starts promptly at 8:00 am this year as opposed to 8:10 last year. We are seeing an excessive amount of students arriving late to school every day. These tardies are unrelated to traffic as students come well after traffic has dispersed.
Tardies not only interrupt the flow of the classroom and it creates bad habits for our students. All students who arrive late must stop by the office to pick up a late pass to avoid an absence. Our back gate will close promptly at 8:00 am. After this time, you must walk your child to the front of the school.
Safety Tips during Student pick up and drop off times
Drop-Off
Please know that any student regardless of grade level can be dropped off at the front of the school. We are asking, however, that students remain in the car until you pull up to the drop-off lane. Letting your students out of the car at or close to the parking lot entrance is dangerous and causes traffic to back up on the street. I am asking for your patience and to wait just a few seconds to drop off safely and provide efficiency to our efforts. For parental convenience, we hope that by next week, when we have additional personnel, we can provide increased supervision outside the gates, starting at 7:30 am. Please note that dropping off your children before this time is neither safe nor permitted.
Pick-up
If it is more convenient, you may make an arrangement with your child (2nd-5th) to meet you at the front of the school during pick time, where you can pick them up at the drive-thru lane. Please know that parking within the pickup lane is not allowed and doing so not only contributes to the gridlock in our parking lot and the street but is not courteous to other parents who may also be pressed for time.
We fully understand that our pick-up situation is challenging and limited by its structure, but under no circumstances, it is ok nor legal to drop off or pick up your children in the middle of the street.
Healthy protocols
We know that there is no substitute for in-person instruction, friendships, and physical activity. We would like to continue our effort to keep everyone safe, students and staff, by practicing safe behaviors.
Please continue to send your student to school with a clean face mask and by completing the required daily health checks found on ParentSquare.
Monitor that your student does not exhibits any of the following before sending him/her to school.
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Parents will be contacted and asked to pick up their students should they display any of the above symptoms at school.
Please contact our office immediately if your child or someone in your family has tested positive for COVID-19. It is of utmost importance that we try to minimize the spread to others.
Thank you for your cooperation.
