Volleyball Wins Blue Springs South Tournament; Moves To 20-1-1 On Season

The Lady Viking Volleyball program had dominating performances in the Blue Springs South Tournament to bring home the tournament championship over the weekend. The weekend saw our Lady Vikings go 6-0 while earning wins over 2 nationally ranked opponents and 5 state-ranked opponents. After completing the Blue Springs South Tournament our Lady Vikings are now 20-1-1. Our "Spiking Vikings" have also moved into the national rankings at #62 in the country and #2 in the State. The girls volleyball program is one of only two teams in Missouri ranked in the top 100 in the country. You can see the results from the tournament below. Congratulations to Coach Smith and our girls volleyball players on a great weekend and great 2016 season so far!

Girls Golf Wins GAC South Championships; Schulte Wins Tournament

Congratulations to the girl's golf program on their GAC South Tournament Championship. The Lady Vikings were paced by strong performances by the entire program. The girl's golf program finished the regular season with a 7-1match record and the GAC South Championship. Good luck to our Lady Vikings as they compete in the District Tournament this week.

Girls Tennis Wins GAC South Championship

Homecoming Week A Big Hit; Record Crowd Attends Football Game

Another homecoming week is in the books. The 2016 Homecoming was a huge success as Howell saw record numbers supporting the many activities throughout the week. The week included spirit days, powder puff football, a pep assembly, the homecoming football game, and the homecoming dance on Saturday night. It was a week that saw great crowds of students, parents, staff, community members, and Viking fans supporting the many events that took place on campus. Students Show #vikingpride During Homecoming Pep Assembly

The 2016 Homecoming Pep Assembly took on a new look this year as Howell staff and students made their way to the stadium to celebrate Howell and the rich tradition of FHHS. Students and staff were treated to homecoming performances by Cheer, Golden Girls, and the Powder Puff Boys Cheerleaders. Fall activities and sports were also recognized for their accomplishments so far this season. A new tradition was also added as the FHHS female staff took to the field to take on the senior girl's powder puff team. Thank you to Coach Muench and Coach Cissell for developing the assembly.

Female Staff Members Dominate Senior Girls In Powder Puff Game

A new tradition was started last week as the senior girls powder puff team took on FHHS female staff members is a powder-puff game during the homecoming assembly. This new tradition saw the staff earn a dominating 21-0 win over our senior powder-puff team. Thank you to all staff members and seniors that participated in this great new event!

STUCO Hosts Homecoming Festival & Powder Puff Game

On Wednesday night Student Council hosted the annual Homecoming Festival and Powder Puff football game. A large crowd came out to enjoy the family event that aims at bringing all Howell families together. Inflatables, games, face painting, and balloon animals were available for younger kids during the event. Those in attendance were also treated to performances by Cheer, Golden Girls, and the Powder Puff Boys Cheerleaders. The Powder Puff game saw a record number of participants compete as the juniors took on the seniors and the freshman competed with the sophomores. Thank you to STUCO and the many that attended this great event. We look forward to seeing an even bigger crowd next year!

2016 Howelltonian Yearbook Earns All-Missouri Rating From MIPA

Congratulations to the yearbook staff and Mrs. Dunaway on receiving an All-Missouri rating from the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association for their 2016 Howelltonian yearbook. Thank you to all involved for developing a great 2016 yearbook for students, staff and parents. We look forward to another great yearbook this year.

Girls Volleyball Raises $1000 For Breast Cancer Research

Last week our Lady Vikings Volleyball program hosted their "Dig Pink" game versus Troy High School. All three levels were successful on the court and in raising money to benefit breast cancer research. The girls volleyball program sold over 350 Dig Pink shirts and raised $1000 to be donated to benefit breast cancer research. Thank you to our volleyball program and to all that helped raise money for such a great cause.

Howell Alum Swimmers Having Success At College Level

Howell alums Alex Crawford (2014) and Bobby Wood (2013) are both having strong careers with the SIU-Carbondale swim team. Both were members of the swim program at Howell and are now making their mark at the college level. Below you can find a brief recap of how these two former student-athletes are doing at SIU-Carbondale.

Guidance Hosts College & Technical Training Kickoff Week

The FHHS Guidance Department will be hosting College and Technical Training Kickoff Week September 26-29. Throughout the week, guidance will feature events to heighten awareness and create a culture of future planning. Below is a schedule of events.

Monday—College T-Shirt Day—worn by staff members. Departments are encouraged to tweet a group photo of members wearing their shirts. The department with the highest percentage of participation will win donuts. Students will have an opportunity to win prizes during lunch trivia. All questions will focus on college/technical schools.

Tuesday—FHHS version of Where’s Waldo—students are encouraged to find the college mascot logos hidden throughout the school and take a selfie with the mascot. Then tweet the photos out.

Wednesday—College Fight Song Day—between classes, fight songs will be played.

Thursday—Technical Trade Day—Large poster showcasing technical careers, training, and salaries will be posted for students to view.

Thursday Evening- is the College Career Night from 6:30-8:30 in the Learning Commons. Come learn about financial aid, the college application process, making college campus visits, the A+ Program, NCAA athletics, community colleges, technical schools, the military, and apprenticeships.
