Grade 5
May 3rd - 7th
Cinderella
Those of you who were able to attend one of the performances of Cinderella will know what an entertaining performance it was. It was the perfect way to end our unit, How We Express Ourselves. Ms Claire and the Grade 5 students spent months planning and practising for the event. Our thanks also go to Mr Patrick who taught the boys the drumming routine, and Mrs Gill Charleson who did such a fabulous job with the costumes. We hope that what they learned in this unit will inspire students to do performing arts as part of their exhibition.
Exhibition unit
It's been a very busy week for Grade 5 students as, in addition to doing their performance, they also started the final unit of inquiry for their primary education: The PYP Exhibition. The focus this week has been on planning action. Students also learned how to complete an event form which is a requirement for any trips or events such as running a competition or fundraising event.
Many parents were able to attend the information sessions we held, but for those of you who could not, please contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns you have about this unit.
We look forward to seeing you at the Exhibition event on the evening of June 10th.
Maths
Whilst much of the students' time in the next 5 weeks will be focused on completing their exhibition unit, we have timetabled for maths. The time will be spent reviewing the year, enabling students to consolidate or extend their understanding. We encourage students to do IXL units on a daily basis (either units set by their class teacher as homework, or units the have not done so far). Looking further ahead to the summer vacation, it is essential that your child continue to work on IXL to practise what they have learned this year in preparation for Grade 6: students do tend to forget things over the long vacation.
