Let's do this!
Welcome back from Spring Break. Whether you went away or stayed home, I hope all of my students and families relaxed and recharged for the remaining 52 days of school. That's right.....about 52 days of school left for the CPES students! We have so much left to do. Within the next 52 days, we have the NYS assessments, swimming (starts later in April - more info to come), benchmarking, three field trips (more to come), and concerts! It's the busiest, and the most fun part of 4th grade!
Music this Week
Students will need to bring their instruments on Tuesday for lessons and Wednesday for ensembles. Chorus will rehearse on Tuesday.
What can your 4th Grader expect during the testing days?
The NYS ELA will be administered on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Most of the kids will remain right in the classroom with me. After the testing period ends, I have about a 30 minute game time for the kids. They are invited to bring in a card game or board game. NO ELECTRONICS. This time gives the kids a chance to move and chat after sitting silently for an extended period of time. We'll still have snack time, so kids are encouraged to bring their snacks as usual. Gum chewing is allowed and encouraged! The kids are going to rock this assessment!
Movie on Friday
I forgot to take a picture before we emptied the big jar, but the kids made it to the top in the last part of March. As a group, we decided to push the movie out to this Friday. It will be a nice change in pace after two days of testing.
We have a new jar going. I'll send that picture on Friday.
BravesLink
If you're unfamiliar with BravesLink, you should ask your child to show you! It's really a one stop shop for the kids. The link is right on the school's homepage. Once the kids log in, they have access to all of the programs we use at school, including google.
