Recipe for easy-to-make play dough with no special ingredients
Ingredients:
· 1 cup of flour
· 1/4 cup of salt
· 3/4 cup of water
· 3 tablespoons of lemon juice
· 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
· Any seasonings or scents you would like
Making the Play Dough:
1. Add the water, oil and lemon juice to a medium non-stick pot and heat on medium heat on the stove (maybe even slightly lower heat depending on your stove).
2. Add food coloring, liquid scents or Kool-Aid to the water mixture.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt and any dry seasonings you are using.
4. After the water is hot, but not boiling, slowly add the dry ingredients to the pot and while mixing to combine. I use a wooden or plastic cooking spoon.
5. Continuously stir until the ingredients combine, dry out and begin to form a ball. If there are parts that seem a bit sticky still, just flatten the dough out and put the sticky side down on the bottom of the pot very briefly. Flip back and forth frequently until it doesn’t seem sticky anymore. However, don’t cook it too long. It is better to be a bit undercooked as it will firm up as it cools down.
6. Place on a sheet of wax paper until it cools down a bit. Then knead the dough for a minute or two to bring it all together.
School Mural Update
Have you seen them? They are fantastic. Attached are photos for those
of you who haven't seen them yet. When you get the chance, you should
stop by the school and see them in person!
Andrew spent the last two weeks of March painting the murals. Most of
his work was done after school and on the weekends, but he did spend a
school day painting so the students could watch him work. It was great
to watch it as it was happening.
Thank you all for your hard work and support to make this happen. The
kids love the murals.
But wait! We are not done yet! We are working on the next phase of the
project, which is the external mural as well as student-created art.
We are hoping to get them done late June during the last 2 weeks of
school.
Stay tuned!
