Wrestling Wins 34 Team Thrasher Invitational

On Friday and Saturday the Howell Vikings hosted the largest wrestling tournament in the state. The 34 team Thrasher Invitational saw teams from across Missouri and Illinois come to Howell to participate in one of the most competitive tournaments outside of the state tournament. The Vikings were led by championships from Tyler Kreith, Dylan Komperda, and Jack Flynn. The Vikings finished the tournament with five medalists. You can view the medalists below. On the season the Vikings are 14-0 in duals and have won three tournament championships.

Howell Medalists:

120 lbs - Tyler Kreith (24-2) placed 1st and scored 28.00 team points.
160 lbs - Tyler Purler (23-2) placed 2nd and scored 23.50 team points.
170 lbs - Antonio Jenkins Harris (24-2) placed 3rd and scored 20.00 team points.
182 lbs - Dylan Komperda (27-0) placed 1st and scored 29.00 team points.
195 lbs - Jack Flynn (27-0) placed 1st and scored 29.00 team points.

Eight Volleyball Players Earn Academic All-State Honors

The girls volleyball program saw much success on the court this season. The Lady Vikings broke the school record for consecutive wins, wins in a season, and reached the state championship game for the first time in program history. The volleyball program also had record setting success in the classroom as well. This season eight Lady Vikings earned Academic All-State honors. The cumulative GPA of the eight volleyball players is 4.19. Congratulations to these young ladies for their success in the classroom and on the court.

JV Golden Girls Finish First At St. Charles Competition

Congratulations to the JV Golden Girls on their first place finish in both the hip-hop and lyrical categories at the St. Charles High School dance competition. Madi Jackson Is Featured Soloist At Missouri All-State Choir

Congratulations to Madi Jackson on being selected as a featured soloist for the Missouri All-State Honors Choir. Madi performed her solo over the weekend at MMEA 2017. Congratulations to senior Madi Jackson!

Boys Basketball Has Dominating Win Over FHC

On Friday night the boys basketball program traveled to FHC for a GAC South matchup. The Vikings walked away with a commanding 57-37 win. Howell was led by 10 points from Mike Brohm and 9 points from Fadi Kaid. The Vikings moved to 14-4 on the season with the win and currently sit atop the GAC South standings at 4-0.

Katubig, Lester, Valenti, & Nelson Win Walgreens Media Arts Challenge

Howell students Kane Katubig, Dane Lester, Austin Valenti, and John Nelson, were recognized no Friday night for winning the Walgreen's Media Arts Challenge. The Walgreen's Expressions Challenge is a peer-to-peer based health awareness initiative for high school teens. At the core of the Expressions Challenge is an incentive based contest for teens to showcase their creative perspective on healthy lifestyle choices. You can view their winning video below.

As the Viking Insider continues to recognize students across all activities at FHHS, this week we bring back a popular feature of last school year, the "Howell Artist Spotlight." Howell is full of many talented young students and we have several very gifted artists that we will highlight over the course of the next several weeks. FBLA Has Strong Performance At District Leadership Conference

Coach Perkins Named MHSBCA Class 5 Coach Of The Year

Congratulations to Coach Perkins on being named the 2016 Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 5 Coach of the Year. Coach Perkins was honored last weekend at the MHSBCA Clinic in Jefferson City. Congratulations to Coach Perkins on the honor.

Teacher & Support Staff Person Of The Year Announced

Congratulations to Darci Hillyer for being named the Teach of the Year and to Chris Seaman for being named the Support Staff Person of the Year. Both Ms. Hillyer and Ms. Seaman are integral parts of Howell and the Activities Department. On behalf of all student-participants, coaches, sponsors, and parents, at Howell, congratulations on the well deserved honor.

Spring Meet The Coaches Set For February 15th

The spring season "Meet the Coaches" has been set for February 15th. Eligibility paperwork turn in will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons with the meeting portion beginning at 6:00 p.m. All eligibility paperwork must be complete to be turned in. All students wanting to participate in a spring MSHSAA sponsored activity must have this completed prior to the first day on February 27th. It is recommended that all paperwork be turned in at the "Meet the Coaches" event on February 15th. To ensure participation on February 27th all fully complete paperwork must be turned in no later than February 23rd at noon . A link to all eligibility paperwork can be found below.
