Wrestling Wins 34 Team Thrasher Invitational
On Friday and Saturday the Howell Vikings hosted the largest wrestling tournament in the state. The 34 team Thrasher Invitational saw teams from across Missouri and Illinois come to Howell to participate in one of the most competitive tournaments outside of the state tournament. The Vikings were led by championships from Tyler Kreith, Dylan Komperda, and Jack Flynn. The Vikings finished the tournament with five medalists. You can view the medalists below. On the season the Vikings are 14-0 in duals and have won three tournament championships.
120 lbs - Tyler Kreith (24-2) placed 1st and scored 28.00 team points.
160 lbs - Tyler Purler (23-2) placed 2nd and scored 23.50 team points.
170 lbs - Antonio Jenkins Harris (24-2) placed 3rd and scored 20.00 team points.
182 lbs - Dylan Komperda (27-0) placed 1st and scored 29.00 team points.
195 lbs - Jack Flynn (27-0) placed 1st and scored 29.00 team points.
Eight Volleyball Players Earn Academic All-State Honors
The girls volleyball program saw much success on the court this season. The Lady Vikings broke the school record for consecutive wins, wins in a season, and reached the state championship game for the first time in program history. The volleyball program also had record setting success in the classroom as well. This season eight Lady Vikings earned Academic All-State honors. The cumulative GPA of the eight volleyball players is 4.19. Congratulations to these young ladies for their success in the classroom and on the court.

Howell Spotlight Artist - Haley Murphy
As the Viking Insider continues to recognize students across all activities at FHHS, this week we bring back a popular feature of last school year, the "Howell Artist Spotlight." Howell is full of many talented young students and we have several very gifted artists that we will highlight over the course of the next several weeks. This week we take a look at the work of Haley Murphy and learn more about her theme for her work.

Spring Meet The Coaches Set For February 15th
The spring season "Meet the Coaches" has been set for February 15th. Eligibility paperwork turn in will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons with the meeting portion beginning at 6:00 p.m. All eligibility paperwork must be complete to be turned in. All students wanting to participate in a spring MSHSAA sponsored activity must have this completed prior to the first day on February 27th. It is recommended that all paperwork be turned in at the "Meet the Coaches" event on February 15th. To ensure participation on February 27th all fully complete paperwork must be turned in no later than February 23rd at noon . A link to all eligibility paperwork can be found below.

6:00-6:20 pm - Presentation By Activities Director Sean Erwin (Only those that did not attend the fall or winter Meet the Coaches need to attend this portion)

The summer, fall, winter, and spring dead periods for the 2017-18 school year have been released. The MSHSAA dates can be found below. We hope that this information helps all Vikings and their families coordinate and prepare for the summer and sports seasons ahead during the 2017-18 school year.
