International Dot Day- September 15th

The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small doton a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.

Consider celebrating DOT day by having everyone MAKE THEIR MARK! If you register there is a Teacher's Handbook with lessons and ideas.

http://www.thedotclub.org/dotday/get-started

I do have a copy of the book in my room if you would like to borrow it. I actually have the Createlogy as Reynolds calls his 3 book series that inspire students.

Here is a Youtube of Peter Reynolds reading it--> https://youtu.be/1CHBrRyPb2I

Here are some ideas-

http://www.peterhreynolds.com/dot/dot_activities.html

Some cool but easy things to do for tomorrow-

1. Read the book OR show the video- Here is a Youtube of Peter Reynolds reading it--> https://youtu.be/1CHBrRyPb2I

2. On a Large piece of paper have each student "Make Their Mark" and sign it or give a small circle of and have them decorate it and glue on paper. (see photo)

OR

2. Have the decorate AROUND the space of a dot (see attached).

3. View celebrity dots online (mainly authors) http://www.celebridots.com/p/alphabetical-listing-of-celebrities.html

then Give each a piece of paper with a frame and have them create their "dot". (see attached)
