Parent Edition September 2019

The Principal's Corner

Hello Annistown Families,

Can you believe we are already in week six of the school year? Time flies when you are having fun! Here at Annistown, our teachers and support personnel are committed to providing effective teaching and learning opportunities each day. Our young Generals are well on their way to becoming stronger and smarter!

Thank you for a fantastic school opening. We have had a busy start to the school year with great things happening with our students and school community. Our Curriculum Night was a huge success, and we anticipate continued success with all of our upcoming parent engagement events. Please be sure to join us for our first Parent Connection Night on Thursday, October 17th. During this special opportunity, you will be able to engage in learning from your child's teacher. Teachers will provide strategies and best practices you can use to support students' learning at home. You will be able to practice and apply the learning in the classroom with your child and leave with the needed resources to use with your child at home. How exciting! Additional details about this wonderful learning opportunity will come home soon.

I appreciate your support and involvement in our parent engagement events as they allows us to stay on the same page and communicate with each other more effectively. When we are able to do this, the students of Annistown are the ones who benefit the most.

Thank you for all you do to support the teaching and learning process at Annistown.

Your Proud Principal,

Gwenda Nimmo - Smith

Communication Updates

Please frequently check our website: https://www.gcpsk12.org/annistownes, follow us on Instagram and Twitter @annistownes, and read all emails from Annistown Elementary School to stay up to date on all current and upcoming events, important updates, and valuable information. Please make sure that our front office has your most current and updated contact information on file.

We are no longer allowed to send text messages through Messenger. For emergency needs, we will send emails through this feature only. We will also bridge these messages to our Annistown Elementary Instagram and Twitter pages. The district will send out emergencies ONLY through the text feature, however, schools are only allowed to send emails.

We miss this feature, as it was a great way to communicate with parents and our community. However, we hope to keep you informed on our website, monthly Generals eNews, and social media pages.
