2nd Quarter Preview
What's happening in ATLAS!
The Classics
This quarter, we will be studying classic literature. In class, we will read some classic short stories and poems as well as two of Shakespeare's plays. Out of class, students will read one self-selected "classic" novel and one other novel of any genre. They should probably get started on that classic pretty soon, as the due date for that will be Monday after Thanksgiving.
I have purchased 14 copies of 3 by Shakespeare, which contains A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet, which we will read, along with Richard III. As of right now, we will be sharing these books. If you would like to ensure that your student has his or her own copy, you may order one from Amazon or Dover Thrift Books. Kindle or E-Books are totally fine with me, too! We will start the plays during the second week of the quarter.
We will likely have an optional movie night to watch Baz Luhrmann's 1996 version of Romeo and Juliet (rated PG-13). Be looking for a date and time for that!
I'm looking forward to seeing all my students again next week! I have so much planned for this short quarter- I can't wait to get started!
