Dear O.C. Taylor Parents,
Click here to see the student video version of Tiger Time News.
Please see the note of thanks below for the most amazing Staff Appreciation Week! We love our families!
I have some exciting news that I’d like to share with you regarding your student’s iPad.
The district is on a five-year device replacement plan, meaning that students in kindergarten through third-grade will be receiving a new iPad. Our students in fourth-grade will hold on to their current device as they will receive a Chromebook when they enter fifth-grade in the fall.
On Friday, May 24 staff members from the technology services department will be on campus to trade the devices. Please have your K-3rd grade student bring the device and the charger on May 24.
One of the things that parents and staff shared with the district through ThoughtExchange is the concern with screen time and the possible disruptions to the instructional environment. Over the last several months, our technology services department has been working on a new mobile device management system which helps ensure that instruction is not interrupted with device misuse. With this new system, students will not be able to transfer apps purchased from their current iPad to the new device. They will still have access to them on another device with their personal login; however, they will not have access to them on the new device. We hope this will reduce distractions in the classroom and help with parental concerns regarding screen time at home.
We are very excited to be able to provide your student with this new instructional device. If you have any questions, please contact our campus technologist or your student’s teacher.
To the greatest of days,
Principal Young
