A Note from Dr. Hall and Mrs. Agee
This week begins the Fall MAP testing window for students in 2nd - 5th grade. This is a nationally norm-referenced test that gives us valuable information to better support your child's learning through the year. There is nothing that your child needs to do to prepare for the assessment and teachers will share the results with you at beginning of the year conferences!
We appreciate all of your efforts to follow our morning and afternoon carpool procedures. As traffic around the schools slows down we hope to continue to increase our efficiency. Please remember, in the mornings if it is after 8:00am and there is not an adult on duty you must walk your child into the school. Please be sure to have your carpool folder clearly visible from the time you enter the parking lot until the time you exit the parking lot. This makes it easier on all of our staff members. Additional guidelines can be found in our Parent Handbook.

PTA News
Due to our small student body (264 students), funding for the school is not as substantial as at other schools. The school library, including the librarian’s salary, is funded by the PTA through business and private donations. To further ensure an outstanding elementary school experience, our PTA, through your support, covers student scholarships for field studies and pays for classroom supplies, school functions, audio visual equipment and facilities improvements. Like all schools, magnet or otherwise, if we want our students to benefit from hands-on experiments, we must provide for the science lab and the science teacher’s salary. All of this, and more, is why your help in this endeavor is essential to our success.
“Color Me CFK” fundraising is kicking off on Thursday, September 28 and the fun run is scheduled for Friday, October 13. Parents, families and friends are encouraged to donate money to help their student(s) raise funds to support our school. On August 31, your child will bring home a Business/ Corporate Sponsorship brochure. We encourage you to reach out to businesses to sponsor our school. If you own a business, please support our cause. Non-monetary donations are welcome as well. If a business can update the banner, do printing for us, sponsor raffle drawings, contribute face masks or prizes, donate water, pizza or help in any other way, that would help to greatly reduce the event organizing expenses.
This fundraiser is organized completely by the CFK PTA. This means that our school keeps 100% of all profits raised! This also means that we need your help to make this fun run possible! CFK parents and grandparents have done an outstanding job in the past, working together to make this an event to remember for our kids. With your help, we look forward to another successful fundraiser. Please sign up to volunteer by following this link: www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4badad2dabfb6-color1

Message from the Health Room
- Please call the school if your child is absent with a contagious illness such as strep throat, or the flu, etc. Please provide any documentation from your physician about diagnosis and release to return to school.
- Keep your child home if he/she has a fever of over 100.0-A fever indicates that your child has an infection that could be passed to other students. if you give your child Motrin or Tylenol, the fever will, of course, disappear but he/she will still be contagious to others. Children must be fever-free for 24 hours (without medication) before returning to school.
