The Lance
December 2-December 20
The mission of Lakeshore Middle School is to promote collaboration between educators, students, and families to foster engaged learners and active and compassionate
members of their community.
Reflections from Mr. Swegles
Something we can work together on to support our students is teaching them that we can always learn from their mistakes so that the next time they are faced with a similar circumstance, how can they respond in a way that will yield a different and more positive result. John Miller, author of QBQ: The Question Behind the Question, says that we always have to ask of ourselves, "how can I (the child) make this situation better."
Let's support our students in taking positive risks and if the results are not as expected, we can go back to the drawing board with new information and formulate a new plan. Failure is not fatal and the learning never stops.
Thank you for all you do,
Mr. Swegles

The Positivity Project
This week we are focusing on kindness. A new voice this week as Olympic Gold Medalist and P2 Board Member, Kerri Walsh Jennings, shares her thoughts on kindness. Watch her video here.
Next week will take a dive into humility.
You can find a character card for gratitude below. Use it as a guide to have a conversation with your children at home and to spot the strengths in everyday events.
