CONNOR SMITH SELECTED TO ALL STATE BAND

Connor had to audition, by sending in a recording of exercises, etudes, and scales. His recording was then judged against other students from around the state for the limited spots in each section of the band. There is only one middle school honor band that encompases all the middle schools from around the state of Oregon. The number of participants is limited to help keep a balanced ensemble, therefore it's a rigorous process to get accepted. He will be attending all day rehearsals on Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th, with a performance on Friday evening in Eugene.

Congratulations Connor!

DANCE TEAM SIGN UPS HAVE BEGUN

Dance team sign ups are in the office. The first practice is January 16 at 3:30 pm in the SMS cafeteria. The coach this year is Alex Reese who has been the assistant coach in the past. Practice schedule will be distributed when it is finalized.

There will be a PARENT MEETING on Wed., Jan. 22 at 5:00 pm in the SMS gym.

EXAM SCORES AND SLEEP

Surprise! Exam scores benefit from months of regular sleep and night-to-night consistency is at least as important as how long you snooze. Getting enough good quality sleep every night — week in and week out — is key to optimizing exam grades, a new study finds.
