Tigers of the Month

Every month each team selects two in-person students and one online student to be honored as their Tiger of the Month. The following students were not only selected by their team of teachers as exceptional students inside the classrooms but were also selected by their team of peers as their team's Tiger of the Month. For the month of March, the cornerstone teachers were focusing on was: Treat others the way they want to be treated.

The Stilwell Student Council and Facility would like to give a BIG shout-out to the following students:

  • T - Erik Meraz & Faye Stephens
  • I - Sergio Rayoza & Abigail Reed
  • G - Sabina Berbo & Minna Horak-Hult
  • E - Lyssa Parkinson & Katie Reese
  • R - Briella Drost & Avery Moon
  • S - Ava Davis & Kaleb Nguyen

Stilwell Archery - STATE CHAMPS

The Stilwell Archery Team is the 2021 State Champions for bullseye! We finished in first place with a score of 3268, 40 points ahead of the second-place team. Individual Awards: A year after winning the middle school boy's division as a 7th grader, Quinton Ballou came back and finished second this year with a score of 285. This is out of 383 male archers. The only one to beat him was, you guessed it, a 7th grader. Ella Melco also finished in 4th place in the middle school girl's division with a score of 283. However, three out of the top five middle school archers in the state were in the girl's division. It was a very competitive year with 273 girls in the division.

Stilwell also finished in second place in the state in 3-D archery! After posting a score of 1653, I thought no one could beat us! However, Spencer shot a score of 1655. Individual Awards: Andrew Zhang is your middle school boy's state 3-D champion with a score of 286! Ella Melco also finished in 3rd place in the girl's division with a score of 283.

As a reminder, last year Stilwell finished 6th in bullseye and 3rd in 3D, so this has been quite an improvement. I am very proud of all of our archer

Stilwell Pennies for Patients

The Stilwell Pennies for Patients Fundraiser lasted just over a month, ending on March 31st. We encouraged students to spread the word and raise awareness for blood cancer through the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. Our goal was to raise $2000 to help fund treatments for young patients with blood cancer. We ended up exceeding that goal by over $500 and are proud to donate $2518 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this year. For their accomplishments, the Tiger Time for each team with the most money donated will receive a Donut Party (courtesy to Hiland Bakery) on Wednesday, April 7th. Also, for our final week push the Tiger Time that raised the most money gets the privilege to duct tape, Mrs. Whittle, to a wall during our recess period.

The winning Tiger Times for each team:

T - Almandinger

I - Zeller

G - Feltes

E - Iverson

R - Arteaga

S - Bissinger

The Tiger Time that gets to Duct Tape Mrs. Whittle:

Thank you to all of those who donated to this great cause and set a new Stilwell record for money raised.

Parking Lot Protocol

We understand our parking lot drop-off and pick-up process can be time-consuming. However, we need all families to follow the procedures to ensure our students are safe. Please remember these guidelines:

  • Do not use the local business as a place to pick-up your child.
  • Do not drop off your student or stop for any reason along Vine Street.
  • Do not pull into the bus lanes along Vine Street.
  • Do not allow your student to exit the vehicle until you have pulled up to the curb in the parking lot.
  • Please drive slowly through the parking lot and on Vine St.

Reminder for In-Person Students

If your student is signed up this semester to be an “in-person” learner, your student cannot choose to learn “online” due to convenience, illness, or weather unless the district determines that we all move to online learning for that day. Students will be counted absent and will need a parent call to excuse.

This should be done in the usual way through our attendance line at 633-6000. You may leave a message 24 hours a day and we ask that you give your student’s name, student ID number, and what grade they are in so we may update their attendance. Thank you!

After the Bell

After the bell is an additional opportunity at the end of the day to get support with learning from a certified teacher. It will start on Tuesday, September 8th in the Stilwell cafeteria. Students will receive an additional snack using social distancing and are welcome to stay until 4:00 pm. After the bell will run each week Monday-Thursday. For more information please contact Mr. Peter Bissinger at bissingerp@wdmcs.org.
