Quote of the Week
The Weeks in Review
We learned that producers are organisms that can create their own food. These tend to be the plants, trees, and grasses. Consumers are organisms that cannot make their own food, and we learned about primary consumers and how they differ from secondary consumers. Finally, we learned that decomposers break down the remains of dead organisms and return nutrients to the soil.
In Social Studies we learned about the early explorers of Texas and learned about the Spanish settlements and how they paved the way for our next unit.
We also had the special chance to learn more about democracy with our schoolwide election. Each class went during our classtime and got to cast their own individual ballot before tuning in to a special broadcast in the afternoon to find out the results. Ask your kids! It was a neat experience!

Austin Intramurals
Austin Intramurals is back for another year of after school physical activity! This program started in the Fall of 2015 and aims to help kids develop skills by giving them the chance to participate in sports while also providing time to have fun and engage in physical activity.
This year, our first sports session will be Football. GIRLS ARE WELCOME! This will be open to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls and boys. The program will be on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning November 14th/15th and ending on December 5th/6th from 3:15pm-4:30pm. The cost will be $5 which helps cover the cost of equipment.
