Hearne Elementary's Playbook
Week of October 15, 2018
Remember your WHY!
When you know your why, it shows. Take time to stop and reflect on why you were called to be an educator. Scan your QR code again or walk around and scan another staff member's QR code. Whatever you position is on our campus, ignite the fire of passion and relentless pursuits of impact in what you do each day!
Did someone touch your life in a great way? Did your 2nd grade teacher inspire you to make a difference in the world? Do you come from a family of educators? Did being a teacher fall in your lap? Are you ignited by the challenge of growing kids and preparing them for the 21st century?
Whether one or all of these questions speak to you, never forget your why!
You are making a difference!
You matter!
Your students need you!
-Johanna Sanchez, Shon Brown, and Jose Serpas
Check out all the awesome things we did this week on Twitter! Keep tweeting the good things happening!
Alief wants to trend on Twitter...you can help!
We are aiming to become a Houston Trend on Twitter and we need everyone’s help! Starting Monday, October 1st please ensure that everyone tweets using the hashtag #aliefmission in ALL LOWERCASE LETTERS….yes, there is a difference in the lettering when it comes to hashtags. It must be all lowercase to help with consistency.
October 1st within every tweet you send be sure to use #aliefmission and tag us at @aliefisd. We will need 1,000 tweets in order for it to become a trend. Trends are updated twice daily and I would love to see Alief active online.
Our 2018-2019 Campus Goal

Perfect Attendance Update
Be On Time and Use Raptor Daily
Plan ahead to ensure you arrive to campus before your scheduled duty begins.
The Raptor system has been moved to the front office (temporarily). The expectation is for all staff to use it daily to sign in and sign out.
If the Raptor system is down, we will do a manual sign in sheet where you will record your time in and out.
As a reminder, our campus norms are to be PRESENT.
Be
Professional
Respectful to each other and their time
Engaged in the learning
Student-centered focused
Encouraging to the team
Nurturing
Team player
You cannot Raptor in and be at your assigned duty at the same time. Campus safety is everyone's responsibility. It takes the effort from all players for our team to succeed.
3rd Grade Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
3rd grade team,
Starting next week (Oct. 15th-19th), all 3rd grade students will be taking the new Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). This assessment is replacing the NNAT3. We will be using the CCC lab and Mrs. Culver’s computer room. The duration of the exam is around 40 minutes. A schedule will be provided to you ASAP. Our goal is to be done by Friday the 19th of October.
Teachers, we will need your support during this assessment with monitoring your class. Please, go over Behavior expectations with your students before coming to the testing site. We need all the help since this is a new test for us to conduct.

It's time to reward YOU for keeping our campus safe, civil, and productive at all times!!! Without you, our campus would not be what it is today!
Staff members will receive a ticket for actively monitoring students throughout the day (hallway, lunch, recess, etc.), standing at class doorways during arrival, dismissal, and during transitions to monitor hallway noise, in addition to following campus-wide CHAMPS and common area expectations. We are looking to acknowledge you for your diligence and consistency.
Once you receive a ticket from an administrator, please write your full name on the back and turn it in the ticket box located in the front office. At random times during the week, a drawing will be held to reward staff members for making our campus safe and civil each week.
