Literacy / Reading
This week we have been learning about the types of evidence to look for when determining an author's viewpoint or what he/she claims about a topic. We can look at facts, dates, statistics, eye witness testimony, etc. to figure out how the author feels about that particular topic or subject.
Next week, we will practice identifying the who and the what in informational passages to determine the most important information in a selection.
Math
This week we are working on changing improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice-versa. We are also continuing to explore equivalent fractions and decomposing fractions.
Next week we will be finding fractional parts of a set and working with fraction word problems.
Science
Exploring volcanoes from the creation of the Hawaiian Islands to those on the tectonic plates is fascinating.
Students enjoyed seeing video on the creation of the islands and on the eruption of Mount St. Helen's!
