Thank you for serving our country and protecting our freedoms. Today and every day, we are grateful for your sacrifices.
Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11 to honor military veterans, who are people who have served in the United States Armed Forces. We want to honor and thank the veterans from our school:
- David Dill, Building Services Supervisor II
- Glenn Mendoza, PE
- Daniel Perez, Social Studies
We also want to recognize our Wangenheim family members who have served in the military. Hats off to you and thank you for your commitment and love for our country.
PRINCIPAL'S COFFEE, Special date
Please make plans to attend the special Principal's Coffee on Thursday, November 18, from 8:30 am-10:30 am via zoom. There will be a special presentation for "Check Your Mood Week” filled with discussions about emotions, warning signs of depression and suicide as well as ways for students to help their friends. This program proactively addresses the rise in mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety, and is compliant with California Law 2246 which requires all schools to have a suicide prevention policies in place. ASB Food Drive
During the month of November, as we give thanks for all we have, we must also think about those who do not have all that we do. The past couple of years have been extra difficult for so many. Wangenheim ASB is holding a food drive for those in need in the Mira Mesa community. We will be collecting food items through advisory classes from Wed Nov 3- Thurs Nov 18th. Items to consider, cereal, bread, peanut butter, jelly, pasta and sauce, soups, crackers, etc. We will accept fruits/vegetables and other perishable items but only on the morning of Thurs the 18th - the day the food will be picked up or delivered. We can also accept grocery store gift cards. If you know of a family in need, please let your advisory teacher know in private so we can assist them. Thank you ahead of time for your generosity. Please contact Julie Chambless, ASB advisor, with any questions.
HOLIDAY Wish 2021
The holiday wishes are in. We ended up with over 400 requests! As you know, this has been a tough year for so many of our students and their families. This is not always an easy time of year for all families so if there is anything we can do to help brighten someone's holiday, we hope we can.
If you would like to help make wishes come true, please go to the link below or scan the QR codes. This year donations will be managed through the PTSA. Go to the PayPal account for WangenheimPTSA@gmail.com , checks payable to WMS PTSA, or cash. Please specify Wish List.
If you have any questions, please contact Karena Doan, head counselor. Thank you for your help. YOU are what makes Wangenheim such a special school.
Anonymous Wish List
We have some markings and highlights in various colors (mostly as an organizational tool):
- If there is a line drawn through, the wish has been taken of.
- Light green are on the Amazon Counseling/Holiday Wish List.
- Orange-ish-yellow are some gifts that are just very pricey. If you have something to donate, we would gladly accept.
Amazon
Please share with families as friends so that we can grant as many wishes as possible.

Writing is Rebellious
During World War II, children imprisoned in concentration
camps wrote postcards to their librarian, Clara Breed.
Now children in San Diego can share their thoughts with
children in Fresno County by filling out a postcard and
dropping it off at the library. Postcards will be sent to
Fresno County Library and children in Fresno will send the
same postcards to San Diego.
