New Year's Resolutions Still Going Strong??
As we move into the last week in January, you may find yourself beginning to give up some of the goals you set for yourself for the new year. Don't give up! Find an accountability partner, or more than one, to help you stay committed to productive habits you want to keep going, or maybe get started on! There are a number of staff members working on healthy goals, and are trying to eat better, drink more water, and exercise! Encourage those around you if you know they are working toward a goal, and share out your goals with others to get some positive reinforcement!
Speaking of goals- What does your professional development look like?
Do you have all your hours for 2015-2016???
February 29, 2016 is the cut-off date for professional development hours for the 2015-2016 school year. If you do not have your hours for PD, you will get docked in pay!! If you are a professional staff member appraised under PDAS, this will negatively affect your appraisal as well. Don't let that happen!! Go to Eduphoria right now (the link is below!) and see if you need any hours, and sign up for a session or two if you need to! You can look at upcoming courses and scroll through to find something that would be useful to you. You only have a short time left to sign up and attend! Keep in mind sessions must be outside of your working hours to qualify, so look for sessions that are afterschool or on the weekend. The goal is for 100% of our staff members to complete professional development expectations at Chancellor! If you have any questions, or are not sure if you have enough hours, please ask!
Do you have technology goals to reach and need help?
There are a variety of sessions on Eduphoria related to technology, and there are few options coming up at Reese Elementary that you might be interested in. Check out the Smore newsletter below listing upcoming afterschool sessions!
Student Goals, Tutorials, and Moving Up, Up, Up!
It is important for your students to have goals too! Many teachers have students set goals, but may not work through the steps needed to reach that goal, or set up a system for the students to track their progress toward the goal.
- An easy way to make a student feel more accountable is to write it down and post it! Whether on a board or in a student data binder, it makes the goal a reality.
- Have students brainstorm a checklist of activities that will help them reach their goals, and hold them accountable for reaching small milestones, through a graph or data tracking sheet.
- Classroom goals are awesome too! We will improve our math DCA percentage as a class by 20%. We will have 100% of our class turn in library books each week. We will improve our IStation scores from ___ to ___. We will get 10 compliments this week from other teachers and staff.
- Set up a success board to show goals being attained!
Every student can set goals!
Reflect on goals to keep on track!
Record data to see evidence of moving toward goals!
