Welcome Back Millstone Elementary...

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Mr. Hobson and I hope that this 1st newsletter of the school year finds you well and starting to settle into your back-to-school routines. In my home, we've been busy cramming in some last-minute summer fun by playing miniature golf or taking a trip up to the boardwalk for fried Oreos.

While we are still enjoying these last weeks of summer, we have also turned our attention toward the new school year. We've all had haircuts (even Chloe the Newfiepoo), completed our back-to-school shopping, and started to adjust to an earlier bedtime (and morning alarm). We are sad to see summer go but also excited for a brand new school year filled with new opportunities and new connections!

Some of our students, staff, and families will be returning to the ES this fall excited to be reunited with classmates and colleagues, and others may be new to our building and feeling, perhaps, a bit nervous. Regardless of where you are on that journey, we welcome you! It's going to be a great year!

How do we know that? It's really very simple. We know it's going to be a great year because you are here. I say, emphatically and without reservation, that our students, staff, and community make our school a great place to learn and play.

We cannot wait to see you on Tuesday, September 6th!

In this month's newsletter, you will find a few key pieces of information to help you navigate the first few days of school. Should you find that you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the main office.

Wishing you all the best,

Suzanne Guidry, Ed.D.

Parent Drop-off & Parent Pick-up Information

Arrival:

Doors open for student drop-off at 8:55 am each morning. Parents are asked to pull to the middle doors where students will exit curbside and be assisted into the building by our duty staff. We ask all families to remain in their vehicles so that we may keep traffic flowing. Additionally, we ask that families pull all the way forward as directed by staff. Students will use both the middle doors and third-grade doors to enter the building.

Students should not be dropped off unless duty personnel is present. Doors close at 9:05 am. If you are running late, kindly park and escort your child to the main entrance where he or she will be buzzed into the building.

Dismissal:

Afternoon dismissal begins at 3:35 pm. Students will be dismissed from the middle doors of the building. Families will be asked to gather outside of the middle doors to pick up their student(s). Families will park in our lower lot and use the adjacent staircase to make their way to the middle doors. Once our parent pick-up list has been verified inside by a staff member, students will be escorted outside and matched with their adult(s).

If you plan on using parent pick-up each day, you may send an email to Mrs. Piccinnini in the main office stating such. Your child will be added to our permanent parent pick-up list. If you plan on using parent pick-up occasionally, we ask that you email the main office no later than 3pm on the day you wish to use parent pick-up. It is important that you notify your child's teacher and the main office anytime there is a change in your child's typical dismissal plan.

Lastly, please note that early dismissals from the main office cease after 3:15 pm as the main office staff needs time to prepare for afternoon dismissal.

Please see the slides linked below for further information about parent drop-off and pick-up.
