Reagan Hoggatt Signs with DePauw
During her High School career, Reagan has been a four year member of Union City’s Cross Country and Track teams. While she has shown equal attention to both sports, her heart lies with Cross Country. Going in freshman year she quickly left her mark, placing second at County, top 10 at TEC and Sectionals, and top 20 at Regional. She assisted in grabbing a spot at Semi-State for the girls team for the first time in Union City history. Sophomore year, Reagan battled with a knee injury and the news of being anemic; However, that did not stop her from working hard in the off season to get ready for Junior year. Junior year came and so did the goals. Coming back from a rough Sophomore year, Reagan was able to attend Semi-State as an individual. Going into Senior year Reagan had the one goal of making it back to Semi-State one last time, which she accomplished while getting a new pr of 20:45:00. During her four years of Cross Country, Reagan has been apart of the Individual State Honor Group two times, and has been named athlete of the month and athlete of the week.
In track Reagan made her first showing ever at Regionals as a Junior in the 4X800 Relay and the 1600 Meter run. Reagan has decided to continue her education and running careers at DePauw University located in Greencastle, Indiana. DePauw is a private Liberal Arts college with a student body of around 2,300, putting them in NCAA’s Division 3. DePauw is part of the Great Lakes Colleges Association and the North Coast Athletic Conference. She is incredibly excited for this experience and has said that, “I didn’t think I would be able to find a college that fit my needs and would give me the opportunity to run. Then I toured DePauw and fell in love. The team has the exact energy I was looking for, and coaches Kori Stoffregen and Stuart Newstat just seemed so dedicated in getting to know me as a person. They are constantly checking in a seeing how my year is going, and I really enjoy that.” While at DePauw, Reagan will be majoring in Communications and Kinesiology while also hopefully participating in their Media Fellows Program.
