We are trying Tucker the Turtle in the classroom to teach all the students how to handle when they are angry like Tucker the Turtle does when he tucks himself in his shell and breathes and calms (left picture). We have the puppet we are using and a story about Tucker the Turtle. We also have a green blanket for the students to practice "tucking".
We are also doing a social emotional series that we found on Teachers pay Teachers. We are using the book that goes with it "The Way I Feel" and the posters to help the students understand how their body looks and feels when they have the different emotions. (middle picture) We also have a stick with a flower on one side and a candle on the other side so they can practice breathing to calm by "smelling the flower" and then "blowing out the candle."
