Forest Grove Family Falcon Update
Forest Grove Family Falcon update
January 5, 2022 - January 12, 2023
Message from the Principal
Dear Forest Grove Families and Staff,
It has been quite a roller coaster of a week. I am very appreciative of our Falcon Family. Everyone comes together to work through the storm, the rain, the fallen trees and the wind. Together we make it all happen.
I trust everyone had a good winter break. Let me express my gratitude for your generosity. I have enjoyed the birthday and holiday good wishes in the form of smiles, hugs, gifts and cards. Each and everyone's good wishes have filled me with joy and supported in the rejuvenation during the winter break.
Our staff and students have began local tests this week. As I visit each and every classroom , I continue to be impressed with the great activities in math, science, English and many other multiple activities and supports for continued growth socially and emotionally.
We have also started our SOAR emphasis. Students joined in an assembly before we went on winter break after two weeks of in-class lessons. A second assembly will be taking place soon and signage will be posted in the next few weeks.
Our Falcon Family will SOAR being Safe, On-task, Accountable and Respectful.
1, 2, 3...Go Falcons!
Yours in education,
Irene Preciado., PhD

Forest Grove Falcon Family Faculty/Staff Spotlight
Zoe Roach, MEd, PPS (she/hers) School Counselor Forest Grove and PGMS
Background and Education
I grew up in Texas but always loved visiting my grandmother in Pebble Beach. I graduated from Texas State University with both my Bachelor's and then Master's in counseling. I have had the pleasure of counseling in schools and community agencies all across the peninsula until 2013 when I settled into PGUSD!
Interests
My interests include all things mental health. Outside of school my three daughters keep me busy. Our family loves camping and my perfect day includes a swimming pool, sunshine, and likely some professional reading!
Please share one favorite elementary school memory.
My favorite memory from elementary school was, of course, the class parties!
What do you love about Forest Grove Elementary School?
My favorite thing about Forest Grove is our whole child approach to our students and the support we provide.
Thank you, Mrs. Roach for supporting us on a daily basis and giving us tools and perspective so we can handle even the toughest moments. We appreciate you.
Program Highlight
Counseling
Welcome Back! January is a time of renewal as some counseling groups end and new ones begin. Individual sessions as well as classroom lessons continue. I will be doing a Bullying Series with 3rd graders while our 4th and 5th grades learn about Conflict Resolution.
This Spring we are looking forward to Kindness Week from Feb 6-10th. I also enjoy working with 5th graders as they approach middle school.
Forest Grove is bringing back some fun traditions from before COVID. Maybe you have heard your student mention a Falcon Feather? No, not a real feather, but a slip of paper that lets your student know someone noticed that they were acting Safe, On Task, Accountable, or Respectful. We will also be holding monthly Falcon Assemblies for 3rd through 5th graders to talk about our Tools and acknowledge students who SOAR!
Questions about counseling? Let's Talk! Please feel free to contact me at zroach@pgusd.org
