From Mrs. Woodring
As we enter spring break, I wish all students and families a wonderful week off. I know how excited everyone is for the variety of activities they are planning next week. During our morning announcements when we did "Bright Side" we had a long line of kids talking about travels, local activities and fun celebrations-even a 100-year birthday celebration! Whatever you plan to do, take the time to enjoy it! I am traveling with my two middle kids, who will both enter school next fall, I know how quickly they grow up so I am cherishing every moment!
When were return, Tuesday morning our 3-5 grade students will begin Illinois Assessment for Readiness. This is the state test, the students will take math the first week. We will do it schoolwide Tuesday-Thursday in the morning. Please make sure your child arrives on time, eats a good breakfast, has a good night's sleep, and is encouraged to do the very best they can. The following week they will take the English Language Arts portion on Tuesday and Thursday. A letter is linked below.
Please consider completing this survey we have a little over 10% response rates from our parents.
The 2023 Illinois Parent Survey is currently open for you to access and the student survey will be given this week to our Lincoln students during the school day. These surveys are very important as they provide a feedback loop that allows us to reflect on and refine our educational practices. Every year D303 participates in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey as a way to collect feedback from all of our stakeholders: students, teachers, staff, and parents/guardians. The Parent Survey, for parents, will be open from March 2, 2023, to March 10, 2023.
You and your child’s participation in the survey provides an opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of our school’s effectiveness. These responses will help us understand the conditions at Lincoln and guide our improvement efforts. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. Below is the link to the survey for you:

Thank you in advance for your feedback as we greatly welcome and appreciate it.

Data Dashboard
D303 Administration has worked with the Board of Education to establish a routine summary on the health of District 303 through a Data Dashboard. A note from the Health Office:
It’s never too early to start planning!!
Dental Examination Requirements
Students in kindergarten, second, sixth and ninth grades must submit evidence of a dental examination by May 15th of that school year. Dental exams must be completed within 18 months prior to May 15th.
We are seeing an increase in the amount of gastrointestinal related illness in our school and within the D303 community. Common reported symptoms are: nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. Fever, headache, body aches and diarrhea may also be present. Symptoms usually develop 12 to 48 hours after being exposed to a gastrointestinal illness. Most people will see improvement within 1 to 3 days without treatment.
Gastrointestinal illness can be passed through the feces and vomit of infected persons. Students can become infected by person-to-person contact, eating contaminated food or water, by coming into contact with contaminated surfaces, or by tiny particles in vomit spread through the air that land on surfaces or enter a person’s mouth.
Proper hand hygiene practices are the best way to prevent the transmission of gastrointestinal illness. Hands should be washed with warm water and soap. Hands should be scrubbed for 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used in addition to handwashing, but hand sanitizer should not be a substitute for handwashing.
Students with vomiting or diarrhea should not attend school while symptoms are present. D303 guidelines allow a student to return to school as long as there is no vomiting or diarrhea within a 24 hour period without using medication to control these symptoms. Students should also be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. A fever is a temperature of 100 F or greater .
Family Contact Info - Please verify for your family!
This week’s first snow is a great reminder to make sure the contact information you’ve provided the District is up-to-date. We want to ensure you’re getting timely alerts on inclement weather operations and other important notifications. Please take a moment to do the following:
View Notification Preferences/Enable Text Messages
District 303 will send notifications to families through the ParentLink system by text message, phone call and email based on your settings. Parents/guardians can view and edit their contact settings through the Home Access Center.
To receive timely emergency communications, we strongly encourage families to enable text notifications. For most people, this is the fastest way to receive and view important messages. Here’s how:
- From the HAC main menu, select the “registration” tab to view your contact settings
- Select the “edit” button to change your contact settings
- To enable text message notifications, enter your cell phone number in the Cell/Text field
- Select the “save” button
