Newsletter Week 6 Term 1

Meeanee School 9th March, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR

We are already half way through Term 1. Students at Meeanee School are doing a wonderful job at navigating through all of the outside influences and continuing to learn. While we are all having disruptions in our lives due to COVID-19, families are being so supportive. At this stage we have not had transmission within the school and only had cases present outside. Again families are doing a great job at keeping the rest of our community safe by isolating or keeping their children home if in doubt. By now I'm sure most people know of someone, friends, extended family, etc... who have now tested positive. Let's continue to support them.

Over the last week we have welcomed Savvy, Travis, and Maxwell to Meeanee School. We hope they enjoy their time at our school. Our current students are helping them to feel at home at our school.

Year 6-8's who are interested in playing Canoe Polo this year are being given a permission slip to return asap so I can enter teams for the season. Games usually start late Term 1. We will have an introductory session for Year 6's next weekend depending on numbers. We have also had two amazing families who are willing to lend us their boats so that we can practice in our pool.

Talking of the school pool it will close this week for keyholders. Could you please return your keys to school asap so that we can tick that job off our list. Before next season we are having the pool painted and installing an automatic dosing system to the pool. Thanks to the Board of Trustees for continuing to ensure that our school runs smoothly.

It's been great to see some new parents who are willing to join our PTA. The first meeting will be take place in the near future.

Lastly just a reminder that if you need a paper copy of the newsletter please email me, principal@meeanee.school.nz.

Big picture

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING

This weeks PB4L focus is:

  • We speak appropriately to others. Teacher to student and vice versa.

Please reiterate this message at home with your children.

Speaking appropriately to others.

As you can see it doesn't matter what age level of student it is or the staff member at school we all need to speak appropriately.

An old adage use to be, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".
