March 8, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
Estimadas familias de Woodcrest,
We are just one day away from spring break! There is no school Friday, March 10 through Monday, March 20. We will welcome students back on Tuesday, March 21. I hope everyone has a restful break!
When we return, we will be in the final trimester of the school year. Shortly after trimester 3 begins, report cards will be available in Campus for viewing. We’ll share more information on timing and access to report cards after the break.
I’m excited for the learning to come during the remainder of the year!
Have a great break!
Jaime Nymann
Principal

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
We wanted to take this moment to remind families of our arrival and dismissal guidelines:
If you are using the horseshoe parking lot (the staff parking lot) for arrival/dismissal, here are the procedures:
- Parents must pull all the way up to the end of the drop off area before allowing students to exit the car.
- Parents are not to leave the car. The child needs to be ready to exit the car and walk to the main entrance. If you need to help your child get out, you need to use one of the other parking lots to do so.
- Students need to exit car on the sidewalk side for safety.
As a reminder, school hours are 9:10-3:45 p.m.. Students cannot be dropped off and left unattended before 8:55 a.m. (which is the time that students are allowed to enter the classrooms). Dismissal start at 3:45 p.m. and the main office closes at 4 p.m., please pick up your children before 4 p.m.
Maud Hart Lovelace Nominee Books
A reminder for our third and fourth graders - don't forget in order to vote for your favorite book from the 10 nominees, you must turn in at least three reviews to Mr. Seal by March 27. In order to be a judge, you must turn in all 10 reviews!
Fourth graders take on the tapir
Lions, tigers and tapirs, oh my! The annual Minnesota Zoo Enrichment Design Competition challenges students to research and design a prototype that will help solve a current problem for zookeepers. This year, the chosen animal is likely unfamiliar to most – the “tapir” from Malaysia.
The fact that not many people know about the tapir is ultimately what set fourth graders in the gifted services program at Park Terrace, Centerview and Woodcrest Spanish Immersion on this design quest. Read the full story about the Woodcrest team that is moving forward in the competition and view photos of student designs.
