We love to learn and have fun!
TO DO:
Check your child's white binder for the Kindergarten Progress Report sent home today. Please sign the cut-off area at the bottom acknowledging that you received it and send it back in your child's binder.
T-shirt orders and the Zoo Field Trip Permission slip are due tomorrow.
Please check your child's binder on a daily basis. Also, please consider joining the PTA. We teachers don't know where we would be without the talent, time and energy the PTA invests in our children and our school. We are all so much the better for it!

HOME:
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You may email me at wbach@ccisd.net, My conference time is from 11:55-12:40. Feel free to call or schedule an appointment during this time.
I will resend PIN practice sheets next week. It is time to have our Otters start entering their own PINS! Thanks for your help at home with this.
Accidents do occur in kindergarten, so if you have not already included these, pack extra clothes in your child's backpack. These clothes may be left in a plastic bag in your child's cubby throughout the school year for your convenience.
Remember to join PTA by paying your $10.00 dues to support our school.
FUN AT SCHOOL!
GT for Kindergartners!
The Gifted & Talented Program is designed for students who demonstrate significantly above-average achievement or potential in the areas of general intellectual ability, specific subject matter aptitude, and creative/productive thinking skills. The deadline for accepting referrals for students in kindergarten is December 1, 2016. For more information, please contact Jean Neyland, Advanced Academic Specialist at North Pointe Elementary, jneyland@ccisd.net.
SCIENCE IS FUN!
Does your Kindergartner want to be a scientist?
WHAT'S ALL THE BUZZ ABOUT? We had fun using our "large ears" on our listening walk to zone in on sounds both on the Pre-K and large playgrounds. We drew pictures of things that made noise like birds, cars, fans (cooling towers), planes, helicopters, bugs (cicadas), frogs, laughing, and even footsteps. Back in the classroom, we added the pictures to our Science Notebooks and worked hard on stretching out the sounds in the words and writing them down. We will be finishing up our 5 senses next week and moving through the curriculum into properties and matter.
THINGS TO DO AT HOME WITH YOUR KINDERGARTNER:
*Practice their PIN number.
*Practice writing your first name with an uppercase letter and lowercase letters.
*Practice identifying your letters and letter sounds.
*Practice counting to 21 forwards and backwards while moving objects from a pile. Pennies, beans, and even Skittles or M&M's are good for this.
*Practice tying your shoes.
