Week of Worship is next week!
Week of Worship - Next week KAES will celebrate with a Week of Worship. Each morning we will go up to the Keene (English) SDA Church for a special morning worship. This year Pastor Michael Gibson will focus on how we can serve God. I ask that you pray for KAES, our students and families during this special week.
Grandparents Day Sept. 15
On September 15 KAES will celebrate our grandparents! At 10:00 am we will have a program in the elementary building then we invite grandparents to stay and visit their grandchildren in the classroom and eat lunch with them. Please invite grandparents or adopted grandparents to join us on this special day. For lunch we will have a $10 boxed lunch.
Eagle Launch
We want to congratulate Evelyn, Isabella, Serena, Jessica, Ernesto and Dallas on getting baptized over the summer. It a big decision choosing to follow Jesus. Today at chapel we celebrated with them.
Covid-19 is still a thing
Please be informed that we have already had students and teachers diagnosed with Covid-19 this year. KAES will continue to follow our mitigation and disinfecting plans. Teachers will work with students to remind them of proper hand washing techniques. You can also help by monitoring for signs of sickness. Fever, runny nose, coughing, headaches and diarrhea are some of the most common signs of sickness. Please keep your child home if you see signs of sickness. Thank you for your help.
School Opens at 7:30 am.
Doors open at 7:30 am. Students can be dropped off at KAES any time after 7:30 am. Students will be supervised in the assembly area and released to go to classroom at 7:50 am. If you need to bring your child before 7:30 am, please contact the school office to see if earlier supervision can be arranged.
The story of our water break
God is an active God and visible if we look. I want to share this story with you to recognize a couple people and how they were a blessing to KAES and also to praise God and how he hears our prayers. A thank you to P & P Plumbing for being willing to rearrange their work schedule to take care of our emergency. A thank you to the City of Keene Works Department and Don, assistant city manager.
As school started on Tuesday water was found bubbling up from the ground near the corner of the elementary building. Mr. Bradley jumped into action digging four feet down to try to find the water break as I called our local plumbers. With the kids already at school we decided to leave the water running and continue with school as plumbers could not give an estimate when they could be on the scene. At 3:00 pm plumbers arrived to look at the problem and agreed that they would need an excavator to dig and find the break saying, however, they would not be able to do it until friday.
We decided we could not let the water run for that long and could not miss that much school so we started calling around to different plumbers to see if anyone would be willing to come out right away and dig down to the break. We finally connected with P & P who were willing to rearrange jobs so we would not be without water for multiple days. I canceled class for Wednesday and made arrangements for plumbers to get started early in the morning.
By 10 am the ground had been moved and the problem was found, a crack in a 3β galvanized iron water line. Then the plumbers explained that they do not stock couplings for this type of pipe because it is so old and that it would take another day to get the proper coupling. About this time Don Martin, assistant city manager, came by to check on our situation because we had difficulty shutting the water off. Don offered to check with public works to see if they might have the proper couplings. Can you believe that within an hour Keene public works had brought us two couplings perfect for the repair needed. By 3:00 pm the broken pipe was repaired, the water was back on, and the hole filled in. I still donβt like that we missed a day of school, but all I can think is that God is a good God and I am reminded again that He continues to take care of us each day.
Coach Hannah brought the Peterson gymnastics team to perform for KAES.
