Mrs. Williams Reading Corner
Welcome back to another fun year in our library. This year we are excited that we are back in our home space with library lesson and check out.
Your students will see me for library lesson on A weeks if they are in kindergarten through 2nd grade, and on B weeks if they are in 3rd-5th grade.
Some of the fun things we will be doing is exploring digital citizenship and how we can be safe, responsible, and respectful online. We will also have our Makerspace up and running in our library. I am so excited to show our students our new Spero RVR robot. Please feel free to reach to me with any of your student’s library questions. Happy reading!
Your friendly Librarian,
Mrs. Williams

If you are struggling with behaviors at home here are some helpful de-escalation strategies, you may want to try:
*Remove what is causing the behavior
*Get down to their eye level
*Offer empathy-the ability to understand and share the feelings of another
*Provide choices
*Re-teach expectations
*Reinforce desired behaviors
*Communicate care instead of control
Our staff loves to notice and name everything great our students are doing. By praising them in a positive and respectful manner and specifically communicating what they are doing well, we find that students are more willing to engage in that positive behavior.
Something to think about: “Behavior is a child’s attempt to communicate.”

What is Diversity Council?
Diversity Council is a student organization that exists in every North Kansas City school building K-12. Diversity Council serves as a tool to help aid students with relationship building and social skills. Through circle processes and by using the foundation and framework of Restorative Practices, our goal is to work with students to build strong school communities where students are empowered to advocate for issues of equity and inclusion, and foster environments that create a sense of belonging and connectedness.
At Davidson, a select group of 3-5th grade students and sponsors will meet once a month on the 3rd Friday during the school day. Our goal is teach lessons, participate in events and service projects that help our entire school community.

- Please avoid transportation changes as much as possible. If necessary, please call the office by 3:00PM

- iPad insurance payments can be made online thru September 15th.
- You can add lunch money to cover a-la-carte items for your student to purchase.
- Yearbooks can be purchased at the end of the year
Exciting news from the Transportation Department!
- You will use your students lunch number as the Username and Password
