Definition of Stress

Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand or threat. When you feel threatened, your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which rouse the body for emergency action.

Stress is actually a normal part of life. Sometimes it serves a useful purpose. Stress can motivate you to get your homework done, to get your chores done, or to get a promotion at work. But if you cant really handle your stress it can become long-term and it can seriously cause problems with school, your job, family life, and your health. More than half of Americans say they fight with friends and loved ones because of stress, and more than 70% say they experience real physical and emotional symptoms from it.
