PJHS Weekly Update
September 14 - 18
Parents we need your help!
Lots of events and activities are taking place at PJH. We held our first JH Pep Rally this week and it was a big success. Thank you to our Cheer team, Cheer Sponsor, Ms. Farmer, and our cheer parents for all the hard work! Our athletic teams all competed this week and all were successful.
See you at the Pole is coming up on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:30. We are using this event to kick off our Fellowship of Christian Student Organization. We are partnering with Willow Park, North Side, and Greenwood Baptist churches. Coach Threet has volunteered to sponsor FCS and 8th grader Hunter Farmer is going to be our student representative.
Student Council Elections will be held next Friday. We are selecting 10 – 8th graders, 10-7th graders, and 8-6th graders. Coach Evans has volunteered to be our Student Council Sponsor and has done a great job getting it all organized. We have submitted our application to start a PJH National Junior Honor Society. Coach Evans has volunteered to sponsor NJHS as well. We are planning to have students selected and inducted in January of 2021.
Ms. Johnson has started our character curriculum – we are using Project Wisdom. She has brief words of wisdom she shares during morning announcements. She is working with Ms. Britton to schedule some time to speak in classrooms as well.
Flu shot clinic has been scheduled for October 1st. Parker County Hospital District will be in the district to provide free flu shots.
Beginning of the year assessments are complete for Math & Reading. Content level teams are going through the data to identify students who need targeted instruction.
The Science team has conducted labs for each grade level. 6th graders held a paper rocket lab, 7th graders held a rainbow color lab and 8th graders completed an aluminum foil boat lab.
Social Studies team took time last week to pay tribute to the lives lost on September 11th, 2001.
PJH Morning Greeters!
Cross Country competed in their second meet Wednesday in Lipan. Boys team took 3rd and Girls team took 5th. Bodee Cato lead all runners placing 8th overall. Their next meet is September 30th at Dublin HS.
Volleyball remains undefeated!
All Volleyball teams remain undefeated. The most recent win came over Dublin on Monday. They play at Millsap next Monday starting at 4:00 pm
First Football Games
Football had their first game Thursday against Ponder. Both teams walked away with victories. They play again next Thursday at Pilot Point starting at 5:00.
Justice: To be a just person is simple... you simply have to be honest and fair. In other words, just do the right thing. And what is the right thing? What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others. It's just that Golden Rule again!
Taking Action: If you are active and doing your best - whether it's with your studies or sports or other activities - you deserve a great deal of credit for fully participating in the game of life. When you stumble, don't let sideline critics discourage your efforts. Instead, give yourself a pat on the back for being in the game and not on the sidelines.
Make it a great day... or not. The choice is yours!
