Happy Friday! What a beautiful fall week. We have really enjoyed the weather but it is starting to get a bit chilly. If you could all bring gloves, hats and warm coats that would be great!

This week in Junior Kindergarten we learned about spiders and the letter Ff. Here are a few questions to ask your child this weekend.

  • What sound does the letter Ff make?
  • Can you think of 5 words that start with the letter Ff?
  • Are spiders insects? (No)
  • What kind of a creature are spiders? (an arachnid)
  • What do spiders eat? (insects, some larger spiders eat small animals)
  • How many body parts do spiders have? (2)
  • How many legs do spiders have? (8)
  • How many eyes do spiders have? (0,2,4,6, or 8)
  • What does a spider use to make its web? (silk from its spinneret)
  • When the mother spider lays her eggs what does she put them in? (an egg sac made from silk)
  • What time of year do baby spiders hatch? (spring)

Next week we will be talking about Halloween and the letter Gg. The Nature Center is coming to KCDS next Thursday! It is a $10 fee per child for the fall and spring presentations. If you still need to pay please drop off your money in the front office. Have a great weekend!
