Message from the Head of School
Dear Renaissance Families,
I hope everyone is well. The school year is flying by, it's hard to imagine it's February. This month is always a favorite of mine here at school as we celebrate Black History month.
Here's our latest edition of the Bulletin. I continue to receive wonderful feedback regarding this effort. Please enjoy reading this, and as always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Honoring Black History Month
Jazz Lunch - students enjoy a jazz slide deck and music while eating lunch!
February 5th-9th Inventors Week Across the School
Classrooms spend time researching famous Black inventors & create some piece of art, song, slideshow, poster, etc to display their learning
A gallery walk will be on display showcasing famous Black inventors in the media arts center; classrooms will participate in visiting the gallery walk
Families will be able to see it during February 15th Showcase Night
A display honoring Madame CJ Walker will be in the core!
Upper School students will have a homework assignment that allows them to create their own invention and have a chance to create a prototype for the February 15th Showcase Night. The assignment should be coming home by Monday, February 5th.
February 12th-15th- Celebrating Black History Within The Arts
February 15th- Black History Month Showcase: students will get a chance to watch the 6th graders' showcase during the school day. Families are invited to the evening showing which will include a performance by the Voices of Renaissance Choir! (See flier for more details!)
February 16th- Vision Boards 5th & 6th Grade Girls
February 26th-March 1st Spirit Week + Soul Train!
Feb 26- Beautiful Black Hair Day
Feb 27- Red, Green, Yellow Day
Feb 28- Rep Your Roots Day (students may bring a flag to celebrate and share with the class!)
Feb 29- Wear All Black Day
Mar 1st- Dress in the 70s Era for SOUL TRAIN!!!
Throughout the months, we will have multiple displays to celebrate black history, culture and love. Students will participate in scavenger hunts/challenges and walks around the building with a chance to earn a prize for participating in the challenge! Every day on morning announcements there will be dedications, quotes and historical facts shared and displayed on our school monitors.
If you would like to volunteer or visit your child's classroom to share a special celebration of your culture this month and beyond--please reach out to your child's teacher!

Black History Month
The application deadline to enroll siblings is quickly approaching. If you are interested in enrolling a sibling to the Boston Renaissance, the deadline is February 29, 2024.
