A Note from the Principal
Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year. We have had an awesome start and we look forward to an incredible year of learning.
This year, we had to say goodbye to Mrs. Renee George, as she was moved to Elsie Rogers. While it was hard for us to do, we are happy for her. She will be the full time Exceptional Education teacher there. We know our lose is their gain.
We are thrilled to welcome quite a few new members to our Northpoint Staff. In kindergarten, Mrs. Mary Ann Hatch joins us. In third grade, Miss Molly O'Rear has joined us. Both additions are such an asset to our school. Mrs. Natalie MacRae-Waggoner joins our team as our half day exceptional education teacher. Natalie is a great fit for our school. She is very excited to work with all of us. We also have two full time kindergarten aides and half day aide. We welcome Mrs. Adrianne Dawson, Mrs. Jamie Yoko, and Mrs. Jill Baughman. They are bringing great energy to our K students. We also have Miss Allison Bergin joining our ENL team. She will be here several days a week working closely with our new English language learners. Mrs. Loraine Benefiel, formerly a K aide, is now one of our new exceptional education aides. All of our new additions are a great fit to our wonderful school.
For those that are new to our school, we are excited to have you here. We have grown over the past few months. We are so happy to meet all of our new students and parents. You will find Northpoint to be a warm and welcoming environment. My door is always open if you have any questions or concerns. You can also call or email the teacher or me, and we will be happy to help.
This year, our 2nd through fifth grade students will no longer be taking Acuity. This test and program has been replaced by Exact Path. Exact Path will help us continue to drive our teaching, determine what our students know and what they need to learn, and build an even stronger program.
We believe it is important to not only grow our students academically, but also socially and emotionally. Throughout the year, we will be learning about differences in our world, multicultural studies and celebrations, and disability awareness. Teaching about differences builds understanding, caring and empathy. It also builds stronger communities.
Northpoint's success is built on relationships. We are all members of the same team, working to ensure the success of our students. We look forward to the opportunities that are ahead of us.
Sincerely,
Diane Wirth
Important Reminders
If you child is dropped off after carpool, please park and sign your child in.
If your child will be absent, please call the school in the morning to report the absence.
Our number is 574-271-8598.
If you have a change in transportation or it differs from your normal procedure, please ensure you send a note in to school. You may also email your child's teacher. You do need to include Lynn Killelea on the email. Her email is lkillelea@phm.k12.in.us. If the change includes Kids Club, please also add Nancy Summey. Her email is nsummey@phm.k12.in.us.
Please schedule play dates for students after they arrive home via their regular mode of transportation. Some buses can be at capacity. Students must ride the buses they are assigned to, and not a friend's bus. We have over 600 children that we work diligently with at dismissal to ensure their safe arrival home. We also ask they not ride home with friends in cars for play dates. We do understand emergencies occur, and should you need an exception, please let me know.
Thank you for thinking safety.

Rev-Trac is currently having technical difficulties and online payments cannot be paid at this time. If you want to pay now, you can send a check in made out to Northpoint Elementary School. Rev-Trac might be up and running next week, so you can also check the system then. Fee statements were sent home.

We want communication to occur frequently. Teachers will send home email updates and newsletters, and school newsletter will come home monthly via email. NORTHPOINT STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK-UP PATTERN PATTERN
Parents enter the south entrance/exit and proceed east to large lot. Parents will then stay curbside at all times when dropping off or pickup your students. When you are picking up or dropping off your child, you need to stay in the car. Children need to enter and exit the car on their own, curbside. They are not allowed to exit on the driver’s side of the car.
Please do not park to drop your child off. After the drop off/pick-up, proceed to exit out the same entrance/exit on the south side of campus. Do not enter the staff lot. Parent parking can take place in the large lot in the parent parking area only. Please do not pull in from any direction other than the above pattern.
We ask that drivers are not on cell phones while dropping off or picking up children.
Students must remain in the cars in the morning until the adults on duty are at the curb. Adults are outside by 7:40 a.m.
This is a very busy time of day at Northpoint. It takes time to drop off and pick up the hundreds of students who attend Northpoint. We ask for patience as we start off the school year and throughout the year. Our number one concern is the safety of our students. Please follow the directives of the staff on duty. If you have bus services, it is a quick, safe and efficient way for your child to ride to and from school.
