Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 26, Issue 27, March 5, 2019
From the Principal
Dear Thornhill Families,
Thank you for supporting our teachers through a very challenging time, which I know was challenging for families as well. And thank you all for supporting our kids. It is so clear that we are a strong community that takes care of each other. I can't say enough how grateful we are to have your support, and I know I am speaking for the teachers and staff as well. Moving forward, I cannot express how happy I am to see our kids and I am thoroughly impressed by how focused our students are! I have been to each class and had some rich discussions about the strike. I love how aware of the issues our students are and their compassion for teachers is inspiring. Thank you for teaching them about this important situation.
The Auction was a success! A very special thanks to Kim Olofsen and Kay Chinn and the entire crew for a fun event. And thank you all for your contributions to our amazing school. Without your financial support, our kids would be lacking key experiences.
Also, I want to thank our phenomenal PFC Aides for their hard work (pictured below!). As you know, Thornhill is one of the few schools that have classroom aides and we are fortunate to have them!
I hope you are enjoying the rain, because there is more on the way!
Sincerely,
Mr. Daubenspeck

Thank you, Thunderbirds!
We want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us for our 33rd Annual Auction. You showed up! You dressed up! You ate up! And you bid up! The numbers are still being tallied, but we are optimistic that we made (and hopefully exceeded) our fundraising expectations this year.
Back at Auction HQ we are hard at work making sure that every bid sheet, drink sales list, games roster, etc is double and triple checked for accuracy. We are asking for a few days to get everything entered in just right. Remaining item/gift certificate distribution will take place before/after school very soon. Please stay tuned! And thank you for your patience!
Highlights of the evening: David Spina and Coach Johnson shooting some killer hands at “Masked Assassin;” Susie Birndorf collapsing post-win of “Heads or Tails” (after 2 more buy-ins!); the Stolls bidding to “Park like a Boss;” some groovy tunes by our favorite teachers; and much, much more.
What a way to celebrate 60 years of Thornhill! Thank you for rallying, Thunderbirds!
Much Love,
Kim Olofsen and Kay Chinn
