This week’s Student Leader of the Week is Torren Broussard-Boston! Torren is a leader in Seattle U Drumline. He is passionate about creating community on campus. He says, "I like to be happy and loving, like how I give people hugs all the time. It’s just who I am.” As a leader, Torren always makes sure that others feel cared for. “I believe that you got to love people. I feel those are the sort of morals that every religion teaches… they all teach the basic principles of love and compassion and care in a real sense.”
He often uses art to depict images of his community, the Black community, and to spread important social messages and stories. “In my art pieces that I do, I show a side of a people that hasn’t been shown, or it’s not shown in a great light, but I show the love that we give to one another and the trials and tribulations that we’ve been through… I use art to break the laws of physics and people so that I can have an open conversation with others.”
