Nuts & Bolts
December 17, 2018
It's almost here . . .
We can do; we can make it through the week!
Thank you for participating in Monday's professional learning. The Feast of Ages play was fantastic and very well done. I loved that the dinner theater style that engaged the audience members. Our parent community really stepped up to provide and prepare food for the event. Thank you, Sarah, for your dedication, creativity, and for engaging so many students in putting on a beautiful show for our community. The JH Snow Ball was a success as well - thanks to Ms. Leigh, student council, and parent and staff chaperones.
As we know, student emotions will be running high this week for a variety of reasons. Hold strong, keep high academic expectations, and stick to your schedule to keep students as consistent as possible until the bell rings at 3pm on Friday.
Please know that I love and value each of you and the work you do on behalf of the students of MMA. I wish you a holiday full of love, gratitude, and contentment. Make time for family and for yourself to fill your bucket.
If you find yourself away from family on Christmas Eve or Day, you are always welcome at my home. Please call or text to find out what time our food will be ready and we'll set a place for you.
Thanks and have a consistent, boring week,
René
Professional Learning Feedback
I am disappointed that everyone did not take the time to complete this survey, especially when time was provided at the end to do so.
Secret Santa Begins Monday!
Thank you for signing up to participate in Secret Santa at MMA. Beginning tomorrow, Monday, you will secretly a deliver small $1-2 gift. You will deliver small gifts again on Tuesday and Wednesday without revealing your name. On Thursday, you will deliver your larger gift (about $10) and reveal your name. Have fun!
Winter Concert Monday
Lockdown Drill Feedback
There were questions about what students should do if they find themselves in the bathroom. I will contact our local safety officials and get clarification on what we should to in these cases. We will then update the MMA 2018-19 Emergency Guide.
Emergency Exit Only
The west side single door across from Ms. Lana's and Ms. Andrea's office needs to be an EMERGENCY EXIT only door. Please use the double doors on the east side almost directly across the hall for accessing outdoor recess.
Do not ever put a rock in the doors to help keep them open. This ruins the hinges and requires new doors.
Professional Learning Opportunity
Designed for educators in 3rd-5th grade and Utah Studies.
Teachers will receive classroom materials, lesson plans and hands-on practice with multidisciplinary STEM lessons.
Will earn re-licensure points OR by attending all three workshops and completing a two hour assignment will receive 0.5 USBE credit.

Paper Conservation
This is equivalent to one ream of paper per week, which is four reams of paper a month. We have used much more paper this year than last. As a group, we need to be mindful of what we are printing and try to conserve when possible.
STEM Week Tentative Outline of Events
The STEM Week Committee (Amy, Michelle, Christina, Amy Jo, and Nicoletta) are so excited for STEM week, January 14-18 - a week of celebrating the beauty of science, technology, engineering, and math.
We recognize that this is week packed full of STEM assemblies, workshops, and field trips. Please honor that all of these are mostly volunteers coming to our school; and, though this may be interrupting our typical classrooms and workcycles, it is a fabulous opportunity to have an exciting week of learning and engagement. Please welcome these volunteers as part of our Montessori community.
The following are the dates and locations of where students projects will be displayed to create the MMA Science Museum Walk. This is a great opportunity for students to do self-studies from others’ projects.
