A Month of Gratitude
November is a unique month. It is a month of showing gratitude and thankfulness. It preferences the last month of the year, when we celebrate giving, receiving, and the end of another year. So we commemorate this month by giving thanks. I am thankful for our Shark family. I am grateful for what I receive daily when walking into these doors. Thank you for allowing your child to be a part of SJHS and for choosing to be a member of the Shark family, keep swimming forward, and as always, Go Sharks!

9th Grade Health Screenings
St James High School will be performing student health screenings on 9th grade students on Tuesday, November 15th.
Horry County Schools performs student mass health screenings in selected grade levels as recommended by the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control. These screenings include vision, hearing, dental, blood pressure, and Body Mass Index (BMI). Health screenings play an important role in the health of our children and help to identify students that may need a referral for medical/professional evaluations. HCS Health professionals do NOT perform medical evaluations. If a referral is necessary based on the screening findings, the school nurse will send information home with the student. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to schedule the appropriate medical appointment. All health screening information is maintained in the school nurse’s office and may only be shared with the child’s parent or guardian.
Parents may opt out of student health screenings by sending the attached Student Health Screenings Opt-out form to your child’s school nurse. Additional information regarding health screenings can be found on our website at https://www.horrycountyschools.net/Page/14508. If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse.

Now Is The Time to Check Attendance!
There are a few changes this year. First, 1 hour will equal 1 block. Saturdays will be from 8-11. If you attend from 8-11 that will be 3 blocks. For our late arrival students, during the 1st block, you will have the opportunity to work with the Grad Pack. If you are a late arrival student please see the Grad Pack in the Media Center to discuss your schedule with them. If you are an early release student, you will need to see the Grad Pack in the Media Center as well to have them work with your schedule.
Students, will not be able to do tutoring and make up time with individual teachers this year.
When attending tutoring and making up time, students will need to bring work with them. We will have teachers during this time that will be able to assist you with any work that you have.
If you have any questions, please see Mr. Hosfield.

Please Send a Note for Early Pickup
If you are picking your student up early or they drive, please send a note and have your student bring to the Welcome Desk first thing in the morning. Students will be given a pass to leave class and meet you at the front. This helps with class disruptions and gets your child to the front in a timely manner. We truly appreciate your help.
