GT Evaluations

Spring Evaluations are due from teachers on May 14. I will spend the last two weeks of school making sure they are emailed to GT parents. A digital copy will be put in your child's cumulative folders online. I send the evaluations to the first parent email in our system so if you have a different email you would like to use or include, please email to let me know: ahunt@nbisd.org.

6th Grade

Thrively

6th grade GT has been spending time on a website called Thrively. This site allows students to create profiles and take personality and career assessment quizzes. Below you will see examples of student personality tests that help them better understand their strengths, as well as help them create achievable goals for themselves. Ask your child what their personality assessment said about them!

8th Grade

April Fools!

On Thursday, April 1 8th grade GT was introduced to their final project that involved a lot of research, interviewing, mentorship and extra work both in and out of school. Once the students were significantly worried and upset about this boring project, Ms. Cowan and Ms. Bryant had announcement posted in Canvas: April Fools!

8th grade GT will spend the month of April and May completing their favorite project: The Marketing Challenge where students create a product and sell it at the Farmer's Market (if parents feel like their child can safely attend the market). We normally do this project in November and December, but really wanted to give this group the opportunity to go through this project since every other 8th grader has done it in the past. Students had a chance to look at what is currently sold at the Farmer's Market and ask questions to the manager on Saturday, April 10 (see photos below) and then pitched their product and marketing campaign to all of 8th GT, Ms. Cowan and Ms. Bryant. Selling weekends are coming up soon!

Farmer's Market Research

On Saturday, April 10 8th grade GT met at the New Braunfels Farmer's Market to do research on what they will sell in May. They looked at the booths to make future decisions about packaging, marketing, booth set up, decor, items sold, how to attract customers, what to charge, etc. Then they were able to ask Taylor, the manager of the Farmer's Market, questions about what they can and cannot do as vendors. We even had a former GT student, Lauren, talk to the GT students about her experience two years ago when she and her group sold at the Farmer's Market during the holiday season. Students will start preparing for their products, marketing them and will sell the weekends of May 15 and 22 from 9AM-1PM. Come out and see us!
