Week 6 Term 1 2021
From the Principal
The Family Picnic is on tonight between 5.00pm -7.00pm and we are looking forward to a casual community get together. While the weather isn't amazing, it is hopefully going to be a relatively dry and balmy-ish evening (crossed fingers) :)
The P&F team have organised the sausage sizzle and Rachael and Larissa have been zooming around getting things organised. Thank you to anyone who has volunteered to help out tonight and if you aren't helping out we hope you will be relaxing and reaching out to other families, in a spirit of fun and friendship - especially new families! Please take your own rubbish home and please also thank those you see cooking snags, providing music, supervising games etc. Mr Dabb's talented daughter Anna will be providing live music for your enjoyment this evening.
The whole team have opted to push on despite a few raindrops this arvo as the forecast for next Friday is thunderstorms! In the final analysis, the worst case scenario is that it drizzles a little and we may have to move undercover (bringing deck chairs might be a good idea). No matter what, we have a snagger and a drink ready for you and you can choose to just stay for an hour or for the whole two hours - all good.
See you all soon :)
Regards and best wishes everyone
Thank you Year Fours for your great CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA wall display and assembly!
Today classes were assigned various areas around our school to de-litter - bravo kids and let's take todays' CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA message - STEP US TO CLEAN UP out into our wider community and make a difference!
Thanks to the parents who turn up, help out, and do it all with a smile and a 'CAN DO' attitude! :)
Mums above are busy getting buns split for tonight and Leanne has just arrived with the balloons to show where Kindy and PP families are asked to meet up. Thanks so much ladies - your generosity is so special!
Kids benefit from being read to at any age!
Here at St Emilie's teachers read to their children regularly throughout the week. This practice reinforces our whole school belief that reading for enjoyment is special - it is relaxing; it ignites our imaginations; it helps us to connect ideas; it improves our own vocabulary and much more!
We hope parents are also heading to libraries with your kids to find some great books to read as a family - a good book is the gift that just keeps giving!

Science Photo Competition - Mrs Cogger
Atom Photography Competition
The theme for 2021 is Turbulence.
What is turbulence??
Turbulence: strong, uneven currents; state of confusion.
We have all experienced a period of disorder, but turbulence can also suggest growth. It is in the ocean waves and airstreams. It is the pulse of a movement, which means going places, shifting things or causing change.
Explore and capture ‘Turbulence’ on camera.
Be creative with your photography, and feel free to think outside the box when addressing the theme. Your photographs can be colour or black-and-white, realistic or abstract, they may include people or animals (or both, or neither).
You can enter up to 3 of your best photos only.
Your entry must include a short-written statement about how you have addressed the theme.
Follow the links on the ATOM website on how to enter your photo. You will need to create an account to upload your photo. Mrs Cogger cannot do it for you.
Prizes for winners of each of the five age-group categories include Ted’s Cameras gift vouchers valued at $500 for the two primary categories, $750 for the two secondary categories and $1000 for Open. Total prize pool: $3500.
Here is the direct link to create your account and upload your photos.
Entries close 23 April 2021. So, you'll have to start clicking away very soon!!
Your Family Details and Emergency Contacts
The benefits to families and admin staff are that these forms can be completed online, with details able to be changed quickly and easily. The form will not need to be filled out each year, simply updated if there is a change.
In the meantime, if your contact phone number/s, email address, emergency contact details or child's MEDICAL NEEDS have changed from last year, please email the Office as soon as possible. Thank you.
All families are welcome to access LUNCHES ONLINE at
Friday Subway Lunches
Families can order a subway lunch for a child every Friday, via this link:
Many thanks to all families for supporting our Healthy Eating Policy. We are seeing plenty of food that supports healthy brains and bodies so - way to go! A friendly reminder to add a cooler brick in these warm months and to not overload lunchboxes - especially for younger kids. This way they get much needed play time and arrive home ready for afternoon tea! :) Thanks everyone!
