Advisor Advocate
March 2020
Post Convention Express
Now that we are on the other side of convention, it is time to start thinking about Spring Break and the ever elusive Summer Break. What does your council want to do this spring that will really make an impact on your school or community? It's also time for most of us to start thinking about the future leadership of our councils, student and advisor alike.
In this edition, there are some links to the handouts from our fantastic Advisor Roundtable discussions to help you with new ideas. Next, an introduction of the 2020-2021 Executive Board will help you know who is continuing the mission and vision of GASC into the future. After that, there is a reminder about BLAST 2020 for all our students. Lastly, there is a survey for those who attended convention. This survey is to help me gather information to present at the Executive Board Turnover Meeting in a few weeks. Your opinions matter, and I certainly want to be able to share them with the incoming board to make GASC Convention 2021 strong and fantastic for everyone.
GASC Convention 2020 Advisor Roundtable Handouts
Each presenter was asked to share a one-page document summarizing their idea. I have compiled them into a folder for your convenience. Please feel free to open them and peruse them for inspiration or new ideas.

The cost is $325 which covers lodging, food, and all supplies. This annual camp has been growing consistently since we brought it back, and I know the whole camp staff is excited to see what happens this year!

About Me
Besides being the GASC Advisor Liaison, I am also a proud French teacher in Savannah. I have been teaching for over twelve years at my current school, H V Jenkins High School. In 2010, when I found out about cuts to the student activity funds due to the recession, I decided that was not good enough for our students and organized our first school carnival for school clubs to raise money for their groups.
After the successful event, I realized that the work was not done, and I knew I needed help. Since we didn't have a student council at the time, I founded the Warrior Council to act as one. This group has been the beacon for student advocacy and events since its inception. We concentrate on improving school climate as well as trying to making positive impact on our community.
In 2016, I started working towards my EdD in Curriculum and Instruction at Valdosta State University. My dissertation will be a study focusing on adolescent identity and leadership development. My goal is to be done by 2020.
I am always eager to help anyone who needs help, so please never hesitate to contact me either via email or by phone.
