Principal's Message
Hello CV Family,
We are really excited to welcome our students back to campus and to welcome the Class of 2026 to the CV Family! We are here to serve our mission of Every Person, Every Day! I am very pleased with our staff and the direction we are heading as a school and community. We truly are here to serve and support our students, please contact us if there is a means by which we can better serve your student. This newsletter is an excellent source of information and is linked on our website for you to go back and refer to at your convenience. Typically I will highlight important information that is contained within the newsletter or information I want to personally share with our school community in the format of Three Dots from Mr. Dumas:
School Safety: District communication was sent yesterday regarding the expectations that all students will wear IDs while on campus. Earlier this year an audit was conducted on our campus to assess our safety needs as a school. The major changes will be student IDs, new cameras schoolwide that give dramatically improved coverage of our campus, additional staff for safety and security, as well as a revised campus entry process. In addition, there are ongoing efforts to secure our campus even further. All visitors will have to go through the front office to the campus unless they are a student with an ID that has early release, late start, EVIT, etc. Those students with their IDs will be allowed to enter the large gates on the west side of the courtyard and on the large gates by the cafeteria on the north side of the school. These will be the only two points of entry for students that come to school outside the start and end of the school day. All other students must exit and enter through the front office to check in and out if they do not have an early release or late start. Both points of entry will have security stationed there to allow students into the courtyard and subsequently back on campus. We will continue to have security staffed and stationed at vital locations throughout the campus. Lastly, there are some exceptions we will work around like students attending seminary and additional adjustments that we will share in more depth in the next newsletter, such as traffic patterns and parking.
Link Crew’s Freshman Orientation is 7/25 from 7:30 am to 12:15 pm. All incoming students should take advantage of this opportunity to become acquainted with our campus and make connections with other students, teachers, and student leaders. More information is available below.
Student schedules should be “live” in Infinite Campus (IC). More detailed information is below and should be reviewed if you have any questions or concerns.
I understand that safety and security are of concern to everyone in our community. I do believe we are taking the proper and needed steps, with support from our district office, to address those concerns. Please look for more information throughout the year on opportunities to get involved and share your voice with our leadership team.
We are looking forward to another great school year and we are so very appreciative of your continued support!
Best regards,
Mr. Tyler Dumas

From the district
Dear GPS Secondary Parents and Families,
As we prepare for the beginning of a new school year we are introducing a number of initiatives designed to further promote the safety of our students and staff on campus. Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts. These initiatives are in addition to ongoing safety and security projects including the installation of integrated security cameras and secured entryways on all campuses. Please read on for key information to prepare for the new school year.
Student ID Badges Grades 7-12
For the 2022/23 school year students in grades 7-12 will be expected to wear their student ID badges at all times. Students will be provided with their badge and lanyard during the first weeks of school.
Key Information:
- Please work with your students to ensure they bring their ID badge with them to school every day.
- When students arrive at school they will enter through a secured door or gate and will be required to have their ID badge for entrance.
- Bus riders will use the barcode on their ID badge for getting on and off the bus. As a parent you will be able to view the whereabouts of the bus using the Here Comes the Bus app, more details below.
- Students will continue to use the barcode on their ID badges to access nutrition services (cafeteria), library, and bookstore.
- If a student forgets their badge they will be issued a temporary sticker badge for a small $1 cost.
- Cost for replacement badges (lost ID’s) will remain at $5.00.
Please expect further communication directly from your student’s school administration.
Here Comes the Bus App Grades 7-12
We are excited to announce the introduction of ‘Here Comes the Bus’, a new service for our families whose students ride the school bus.
With ‘Here Comes the Bus’ parents can:
- View the real-time location of their student’s school bus
- Ensure their student gets to the bus stop at the right time, every time
- Know when and where their child boards or exits the bus - Students ID badges will be scanned when they board and exit the school bus.
Parents can easily download the ‘Here Comes the Bus’ app (please see the attached flier with instructions). Once downloaded select whether you would like email, push notifications or both, regarding your student’s school bus. You can also select what you would like to be notified of.
Video Intercom Entrances
As mentioned above a number of our schools, including all five comprehensive high schools and one elementary have secured entryways installed. The process of adding these to all campuses is ongoing.
For the start of the 2022/23 school year Elementary schools, Junior Highs, Gilbert Classical Academy, and Canyon Valley will have a video intercom buzzer system in place for secured entrance to the campus. Visitors will be required to show ID and state the purpose for their visit prior to gaining entrance to the campus. Thank you for your support.
As a school district we remain committed to the safety and security of our schools. For further information on all safety and security initiatives and updates please visit our website.

Schedules
Student Schedules
Tentative student schedules are now available to view in the Student Portal.
Click here for instructions to our Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Students and parents are encouraged to utilize the Infinite Campus App to access their schedule. (*Please note that balancing of class size and minor adjustments may still be made by the registration office throughout the month of July.)
Online Schedule Change Form
Please review your schedule. If a correction is needed, please fill out the Schedule Change Form. We are asking that you do not email counselors directly for schedule changes, but instead use the form, providing a reliable email and phone number for communication purposes. Our goal is to efficiently and equitably meet the needs of each of our students. Please remember that counselors are unable to make lunch and teacher changes.
The online schedule change form will close on Monday, July 18th in order to finalize schedules for the first day of school. If there is a scheduling conflict beyond this date, it will need to be addressed directly with the student’s counselor on the first day of school during the period of the conflict.
First Day of School Schedule Procedures
All students should access Infinite Campus on or after Monday, July 25th, to print or screenshot updated schedules. This is the schedule that will be used on the first day of school.
If a student does not have access to Infinite Campus, students can pick up a printed copy of their schedule in the library on the first day of school.
Release Time Forms
Students that have a release time on their schedule will need to complete the Release Time Form and return it to the front desk within the first week of school. The Release Time Form is available at the front desk.

Parking Permit
Due to limited availability, parking permits are issued on a first come, first served basis to licensed senior, junior or sophomore. No permits will be issued to unlicensed drivers. Permits MUST be visible in any vehicle you drive to school. Any student caught parking on campus without a parking permit will lose their ability to get a parking permit. Students found parking on campus will receive a warning sticker. After the student has been issued three warnings, security will be putting a boot on the car. A parent or guardian will be required to meet with administration prior to removal of the boot.
Parking permits will not be prorated, the cost is $60.00 regardless of when the parking permit is purchased. When permits are sold out there will be a wait list, students wanting a permit will need to request to be placed on the waiting list and will be notified if a permit becomes available.
Make sure all of your fines/fees are paid by following these directions. This year, no permits will be issued to students with outstanding fines/fees.
After it is confirmed that the Campo student has no fines/fees, a parent or guardian will have to fill out this Google form. Filling out this form indicates that you are applying for a student parking permit at Campo Verde High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Filling out this form is a request and you are not guaranteed a permit. Your response can be accessed and edited at any time by clicking the Google form link found in this email, and in every newsletter for the upcoming year. It is your responsibility to update your form with any vehicle changes throughout the year. You may also do this by contacting the bookstore. If rules and regulations are not followed you will be subject to having parking privileges revoked. Your response will be put into a spreadsheet to be confirmed.
During their allotted time, students may come to the school with their license (photo copies not accepted) to purchase and receive their official 22-23 parking permit. Reminder, filling out the Google form does NOT guarantee you a permit. If you have fines/fees, no current license, or the Google form isn’t filled out correctly we will not be issuing you a parking permit.
July 15th, 18th, 19th & 20th 7-8am- JUNIORS may come to the school with their license to pay for and receive their official 22-23 parking permit.
No permits will be sold July 21st-25th. Sales will resume during school hours on the first day of school. Students may come in before school, after school, or during school lunches. No passes will be issued to miss any class time.
August 8th- SOPHOMORES may come in during school hours to pay for and receive their official 22-23 parking permit. Passes to class will not be issued so please plan accordingly.
While you are in the bookstore to purchase your permits, check out our new Thread™ lanyards and elastic wallets, shirts and sweatshirts, get new PE clothes, and SENIORS, grab a senior yard sign to celebrate this momentous year!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email the bookstore Katie.Krause@gilbertschools.net

However, these items must FIRST be checked in and accompanied by the appropriate form at the Health Office.
