McAllister Minutes
Week of: October 2 - October 6
The Week Ahead!
- What was my best moment this 9 weeks and how can I have more moments like it?
- What was my most challenging moment and why? How will I respond next time?
- Have my students been excited to be in my class? If not, what can I do to change this?
- How well did I communicate with others this first 9 weeks and how can I do this better?
- In what ways did my students surprise me most?
- How have I supported my colleagues and how will I continue to do so?
- What are the biggest obstacles to improving my practice and how will I overcome them?
- What do I want everyone to be able to say about me at the end of this semester?
The week ahead is fairly routine with a minimal number of outside training's, meeting, etc. being held. As we begin October, please remember that this month is an entire conference window. Make the most of your time and schedule these opportunities to meet with ALL of your parents prior to the end of the month. Many have used sign-up genius to aid in this process and it is a great resource. Parents are eager to hear how their child is doing, please prepare and communicate how we can best partner with them to support their little one. Please make sure you capture who attends.
Have an INCREDIBLE Week!
Reminders/Updates for the Week
- This week commemorates the 25th anniversary of Georgia Pre-K! Stop in and see our little friends if you get a chance, this is where it all begins!
- Digital Citizenship Week is this week as well, hats off to Ms. Hursey for organizing efforts to make this an exciting week for each and everyone of our students.
- This week we truly kick off our fundraiser for the year - Please remember that you are the vehicle behind this information being disseminated. The more excitement you show to your kiddos, the more willing they are to encourage their parents to participate. I've enclosed the video link below for your convenience. Please share this with the students in your class!
- Friday, October 6 - PTSO will be serving faculty and staff a lunch in the PL room. We truly have the most #INCREDIBLE PTSO around!
- Scarecrow Update - Please take note that scarecrows should be complete by 10/12 for use at our Family Fun Night, this is a great opportunity to engage your room mom or other volunteers for this fun activity! If you need a hand with anything please do no hesitate to reach out to myself or our wonderful PTSO.
- Report Cards go home on 10/12. These will be coupled with the students MAP report that lists their "Student Progress Report". If you need help in running this report please let one of the administrators know.
Making Moves at McAllister
- Kudos to our 4th grade team - Excerpt is from a 4th grade parent after Parent University: "The 4th grade team as a whole did a super job! I was really impressed. Mrs. Jones is amazing! First interaction I had with her was tonight when she was speaking. She has such passion for teaching and parents and children learning!"
- Talk about building relationships and creating communication that matters - A parent recently shared with me that Ms. Nelly made a point to call the parent of every student in her class after the 1st week of school to talk about their 1st week. #relationshipsmatter #CommunicationIsKey
A look ahead....
