"The person who can make hard things easy is an educator."

Dear Mr. Hamblin,

I was thrilled to see the opening for a mathematics teacher at Derby High School. My qualifications, education and skills match very closely with your job description. With a Bachelors degree in secondary education mathematics, an initial teaching license from the State of Kansas, and enthusiasm and innovative ideas of a new teacher, I have the potential to become one of the most effective math teachers at Derby High School.

I have gained a great deal of experience in teaching through amazing teaching classes, numerous hours of classroom observations and well as a semester of student teaching. I am not a traditional student and I bring a great deal of experience outside of the classroom. I spent 7 years hiring and training new employees for One Call Concepts and 10 years handling all accounting, bookkeeping and office management duties for K & B Cleaning, LLC before deciding to go back to school to become a teacher.

I am particularly interested in the Derby School District not only because it provides an excellent education and high-tech classroom environment, amazing athletics and a great sense of community, but because I am have been a Derby parent since 2003 and can’t imagine teaching anywhere else. I love the Derby School District, teachers, student and staff and want to be a part of something great like Derby High School.

I would be grateful for a change to speak with you regarding this position to discuss the results I could bring as a teacher to Derby High School. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Emily Kennedy
