A Bi-Weekly Newsletter from the Hollymead PTO
We hope everyone enjoyed—or stayed safely away from—the crazy winter-like weather we had this weekend. While it kept us from holding our outdoor Talent Show on Saturday, we are so grateful to all of the parents, caregivers, volunteers, and—of course—talented Hollymead students who pulled together to make sure the show happened on Sunday. The students worked so hard in rehearsals throughout March, and we enjoyed watching them perform their incredible acts in front of their families and adoring fans! A big thank you to everyone who came to watch or helped set up for the Talent Show, and a very special thank you to our Talent Show Chair Katie Arostegui for planning such an amazing show!
A few reminders for this coming week:
- Please join us for our Dining Night Out at Torchy’s Tacos on Wednesday, March 30th. Don’t forget to bring your flyer to ensure that a portion of the sales goes to benefit Hollymead! (Also, parents and caregivers—please be aware that Torchy’s menu has some colorful descriptions of some of their entrees; we encourage you to check out the menu ahead of time to ensure that your family has a good experience!)
- April 1st is a half-day for students (so it will not be an April Fool’s joke when your child tells you they’ll only be in school for half of the day!).
- Spring Break starts on April 2nd and runs through April 10th.
- Our next PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, April 13th (rescheduled from the first Wednesday of the month due to Spring Break).

Yearbooks are on sale through Friday, April 15th! Sales fliers went home last week (additional fliers are available in the front office). The cost per yearbook is $20. Please make checks payable to Hollymead Elementary PTO.

The Hollymead yearbook will feature a special section dedicated to our fabulous 5th graders.
5th grade families and caregivers please submit the following to joycemcooper75@gmail.com or upload to their teacher's folder on Google Drive.,
- Please upload a high quality "baby picture" of your 5th grader. Make sure your picture is named after your child.
- A brief 30 word or less message to your graduate. Example, "Congratulations, Student. We are so proud of you. Love, Your Family." Please note: messages will be printed exactly as submitted; please spellcheck your submission.
- The deadline is April 15.
Virtual Students Yearbook Pictures
Families and caregivers of Virtual Students, please upload pictures of your students for the yearbook to their teacher's folder on
Google Drive. You may also email photos to
joycemcooper75@gmail.com.
Make sure your picture is named after your child. The deadline is April 15. Our talent show was a huge success. Thank you to all of our students and volunteers who helped with this project. Special thanks to Katie Arostegui for organizing and coordinating the show! Be sure to check out Facebook and Instagram for more pictures. Have you tried Torchy's Tacos in The Shops at Stonefield? Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 30 from 10 am - 10 pm. You can eat tacos for lunch AND dinner, all while supporting the Hollymead PTO.
Just show the flyer or a digital copy of the flyer at the register and 15% of your purchase will go back to Hollymead. (Online and delivery orders are excluded) Come out and support this new restaurant and your school!
Some of the restaurant decor and items on Torchy's menus contain adult language and controversial topics. Should parents be concerned about the content, please visit Torchy's menu in advance.
The PTO is happy to announce our new After School Club lead by trainer, instructor and former NFL cheerleader Katie Arostegui. Have fun learning skills like, jumps, cheers, chants, kicks, dance, and basic stunting principles. All levels are welcome. Club runs 5 weeks: April 18th - May 17th, 2:30- 4pm. Third-fifth graders meet on Mondays. First and second graders meet on Tuesdays. Cost is $60.

The PTO is excited to announce an After School Yoga Club led by Carolina Lopez, psychologist and certified adult, teen & children yoga teacher and Hollymead mom.
Club Description: Each class offers a complete, age-appropriate Yoga practice including breathing instruction, relaxation techniques, stretching and strengthening poses. We will use fun-filled games and our imagination during each Yoga practice.
The club will run for 4 weeks, April 20 - May 12, 2:30pm - 3:30pm

Coming soon is our Books Bring Us Together Scholastic book fair held right here in the Hollymead Elementary School Auditorium from Monday, April 25th - Friday, April 29th, 2022.
All grades will be previewing books and purchasing them with their teachers during school hours. More information will be coming out soon. Happy Reading and we can’t wait to see you!

As the seasons change, we anticipate less need for winter wear in the near future. There are many quality items in the lost and found, but not enough room to keep them all in perpetuity. As appropriate, please encourage your children to check the lost and found rack/boxes every once in a while for any missing items. (There are currently quite a few jackets, coats, and water bottles, for example). Cold-weather wear will be donated to a local charity if not claimed by 29 April. Water bottles that can't find their owners will be discarded by the end of the school year.
