From the Principal's Desk...
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am writing this letter to you for the very last time. I have always valued the opportunity to communicate with you about the many wonderful things that abound at St. John the Baptist School. I have equally valued reflecting upon these gifts in light of the scriptures and what the Church teaches. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
My understanding of Gifts or Grace has been a powerful and motivating truth in my life. I have spent many hours, days and weeks reflecting upon this deep truth; “It’s all a gift.” I have been blessed by my time here at St. John the Baptist School, and I will be forever grateful for the gifts that you, you daughters and sons and the faculty and staff have shared with me.
As we end this year, we are called upon to be thankful for the gifts of those who are leaving. Mrs. Elaine Shotwell and her 47 years of service. Mrs. Deborah Robbins and her 26 years of service. Mrs. Elise Hochhausler and her 6 years of service. These faithful and faith-filled women have given St. John the Baptist School the greatest gift; the gift of themselves. May they be richly blessed as they retire, and may they share their gifts with everyone they meet in the future.
This past Sunday the Church celebrated the Feast of Pentecost. It is a remembrance of the coming of the Holy Spirit and the bestowing of gifts upon the disciples and on us. St. Paul tells us in the second reading (1 Cor. 12:3b-7), “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.”
My hope and prayer for our students, families, faculty and staff and all of us is that this summer may be a wonderful time of rest and renewal. That it may be a time to travel and to be with our families and friends in ways that we have missed. May it also be a genuine time to reflect upon the Gifts, the Grace, that we have received. Let us not overlook the small ways that the Holy Spirit has come to us, and may we always remember; There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit.
Peace,
Dan Minelli

Athletic Boosters
Out with a Bang
To celebrate the closing of this school year, the athletic boosters has planned a small celebration for our final Family Night on Friday May 28th. It is fitting that this is the final day of school and what better way to celebrate. We will have a food truck serving food starting at 5:30 pm, a DJ playing music later in the evening, and for the first time we are excited to announce a fireworks show starting around 9:30 pm. We are confident this is something the kids will be excited about and that they will remember for years to come. We hope that you are able to join us in celebrating the closing of the 20-21 school year.
