Gannett Peak Elementary
Wow! We are to the last month of school. The last few days of warm weather has definitely made it seem more real that summer is right around the corner.
I'd like to welcome our new assistant principal starting next fall at Gannett Peak, Ms. Megan Park. She is coming to Gannett Peak after 11 years of experience as a special education teacher and elementary classroom teacher at Baldwin Creek. Originally from Montana, Ms. Park and her husband moved to Wyoming in 2010 and have loved raising their three daughters in the Lander community. When she's not at school, Ms. Park's favorite ways to spend time are being on outdoor adventures with her family and reading. She is thrilled to be joining the Gannett Peak team, and is especially excited to be working with the community's youngest learners.
Here's a quick peek at a few happenings during the month of May. On Monday, May 24th it is our "Moving Up" day. For approximately 30 minutes, students transition up to the next grade level and meet their teacher as well as classmates. The current third grade students get to check out Baldwin Creek and meet their teacher, too. This is such an exciting day for students, plus it can ease a lot of anxiety through the summer about next school year by knowing who their teacher and classmates are going to be.
Also, field day is planned for Tuesday, May 25th with a back up day of May 27th, if the weather does not cooperate. So here's hoping for lots of sunshine during this last week of school. Our P.E. teachers, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Fischer, have planned lots of different stations chalked full of fun - no competition - just having fun together, being outside, and playing.
Finally, report cards will be sent home the first week in June along with the latest STAR assessment data. Your child's teacher for next school year will be written on the report card as well. Please continue to check your child's backpack or Bloomz app for communication from the classroom teacher regarding May events. We are excited for these last few weeks of school and finishing the year together strong.
Sincerely in Education,
Mrs. Voxland, Principal
