Important Reminders
Welcome to the weekly newsletter! Please read this letter each week to learn about important updates in our school and to find out what your child is learning about!
- The next online-only due date for Scholastic Book Orders is October 20th. The class code is NDJXN. I sent a yellow paper home last Friday about how to order online if you need more information! Thanks to all who have ordered thus far - our class has earned 3 free books!
- Our class has been loving their new math stations! If you'd ever like to volunteer to help out with our math stations, please contact me! It's only a 20-25 minute time commitment. Thank you to Avery's mom and Sawyer's mom for being our first volunteers.
- This week's homework assignments consist of math, spelling, and reading. For the reading homework your child will need a fictional book or at least a chapter/section of a fiction book/story/fable/etc.
- Upcoming key dates: There is no school on Friday, October 13th. The first round of parent-teacher conferences will take place on Monday, October 30th. I will contact you if I am expecting you to attend that date. If I don't contact you, please know you will be included in the second date of parent-teacher conferences (to be held on November 8th).
- College and Career Readiness Week will be focused on at Munroe the week of October 9th.
Thanks,
Mrs. Reiber

Happy Birthday, Avery!
What we are learning in Room 12...
If your child is going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - Students are learning how to solve division problems using multiplication facts! You can help your child at home by practicing multiplication facts and writing out the "fact families" for a set of related numbers. Please contact me for extra practice sheets and I will send the sheets home with those who request it. We are also going to solve word problems this week.
- Reading - We will read Enemy Pie this week and analyze the story elements such as characters, setting, and plot.
- Writing/Spelling - This week the spelling word pattern is "short vowel sounds." The words will be in the back of the yellow take-home folder and the test will take place on Friday. Your child will have 5 "personal word list" words. In writing class, we are reviewing parts of a sentence - noun, verb, adverb, adjective.
- Science - Science class began last week. The students will learn about natural resources/energy for the next few weeks with Mrs. Kerscher!
Link/Video of the Week
Did you know your child has a Google account at school with access to Google Drive and Google Classroom? I post a new math game weekly in the Math Google Classroom that aligns with our math unit. Your child can also practice on the Prodigy website at their own pace! Additionally, in the Daily 5 Google Classroom there are links to videos for books we have read in class. Your child can access it from anywhere as long as they know their log-in (lastname.firstname@stu.tallmadgeschools.org) and password.
